I am sorry but all of this has put a sour taste in my mouth about McGonagle. I knew I wasn't voting for Hanlon but with all this back and fourth bullsh*t my vote has pushed away from McGonagle as well.

I wish the candidates would have an old fashioned debate or at the very least, one of the organizations sponsor a "meet the candidates night." I would like this election be decided on the most competent out of the field not a popularity contest. I am not saying we have a great field to chose from, but these four are what we have, and may the one who can do the job best, win. We all certainly need the help.

Do you mean Carlo because he is not the best speaker? I also would like to see a debate. I think they used to have them. I can’t remember off hand. Regardless of who is elected mayor, they are going to have a tough road to follow and I don’t envy any one of them. Other cities and towns are having the same problems, if not worse. Lawrence almost closed down completely yesterday.

People have different opinions of what is best for everyone. I like Carlo but I am not sure he can handle being CEO of a billion dollar corporation. If he’s elected than good luck to him. I like John Hanlon too but I think his mistake was hiring the wrong people. He is smart enough to handle it but he put too much trust in his advisors. Joe McGonagle seems like a nice guy but I can’t help but think of the former mayor when I see him and would hope Joe would put new people in office, not rehire old ones. It’s too bad a woman didn’t pull papers. I bet they would have one.

These are my reasons for a debate.

I guess Joe McGonagle was out walking in my neighborhood last night since I found some campaign literature in my front door this morning. I was surprised that the card contained very little in the way of discussion of qualifications or issues; the back side of it was dominated by a Patriot's schedule. Although the date of the primary was on the back of the card in small print, the candidate's message on the front of the card only asked for support in the November election. I hope that this is not a sign of overconfidence. Unfortunately, my disappointment with this candidate continues to grow.

The only positive I can take away from this is that at least this candidate left something at my house; last week, when the Mayor was in my neighborhood, I received nothing.

On a different note, unless there was an omission in today's Leader-Herald, Alconada is not seeking re-election to the school commitee. I guess those rumours of him moving out of the city might be true.

I did not mean to exclude Jim Keane. I haven’t heard anything about him or what type of plan he has. I also have not seen one sign/bumper sticker for him. He should get more outspoken. If he does, he just might get bumped up the ladder.

What a nice video that Joe has. I watched both his and Carlo's. Carlo is very clearly speaking of Mr. Thibeault without mentioning his name which in a way is deceitful. It would have been better for him to come clean and say who he’s talking about but he didn’t because of Mr. Thibeault track record.

Joe’s video was refreshing.

I agree it is a nice video as was Carlo's I just watched them both. I googled but couldn't find one for Mayor Hanlon or Mr. Keane. I did find a very interesting website through the advocate though you gutta go here and read.

Did anyone get Hanlon's direct mail piece today? Someone needs to point out to Hanlon that he's not running against the former administration. Someone needs to point out to Hanlon that so much whining coming from a 71 year old man is not very mayoral. His "they're all picking on me" routine is getting really old. He says he wants to finish the job he was elected to do two years ago? How about actually STARTING the job he was elected to do two years ago?

The videos for all of the mayoral candidates started airing tonight on ECTV. Interesting viewing. I couldn't believe that the basis of the Mayor's presentation was a review of the results of his twelve point plan from the last election. Most of us that post regularly on this board won't agree with his take on the results of his efforts. I thought it was strange that he admitted, up to now, that he has come up short on a couple of his points. I think he left out reviewing at least one point of his plan but I'll have to watch it again to be sure.

The strategy would appear to be that if Hanlon spins his 12 point plan in public, his opponents won't be able to touch it. Far from it. Mayor Hanlon's 12 point plan was a dismal failure.
