Thiebault went to the mayor with his plans for another dump and was told not interested. Thiebault said in front of many people that it’s OK because he will wait for the next mayor. Did you read the Thursday paper and see the Thiebault invitation for the fundraiser he did for Demaria? Was it not Demaria that was speaking of his as the developer? And Thiebault’s invitation the minimum amount was 250.00? Who can afford that? While I thought McGonagle’s add was a little tasteless, it needed to be done.

From what I am understanding Thibeault has talked with both Hanlon and McGonagle and they both felt that Thibeault's plan was not good for Everett. Thibeault's money and support was up for grabs because the other two walked away and DeMaria snatched it up. I can not believe people don't see through Thibeault. This kind of person doesn't do anything for nothing in return. I hope Everett thinks long and hard about this association.

Well Cam, DeMaria didn't snatch up anything, you people are so ridiculous. Guess what Cam ?? Joe actually asked Thibeault for a contribution and Thibeault turned him down. This is like beating a dead horse and frankly I am getting sick of talking about it. But it is true and I know this from a very close source that Joe did ask him. I am sure I will get a wonderful response from some of you, but it needed to be told. Joe is a hippocrit.

AVGMOM, I can reply to this with a little first hand knowledge. What you just posted is absolutely false, and whoever told you that, made it up. Thibeault contacted Joe long before Carlo entered the race. I have known about this since the beginning of the year, I try really hard to not say too much about Joe cause everyone knows who I am supporting. When something is blatantly untrue, I can't keep my mouth shut. This is the type of venomous rantings you usually read on The Mirror.

Also, if you would notice, most of us long timers don't go in for that kind of BS. There are DeMaria people here and McGonagle people, we all get along because we don't go into slamming each other for honest opinions. Most of us can "agree to disagree." I realize the primary is only a few days away and people may be getting anxious for their candidate but that doesn't excuse posting false statements. You know, if Joe doesn't make it through the primary, the majority of his supporters would go over to DeMaria. I know that is where I would go, or at least thought I would. I thought Carlo wanted to stop the petty political bickering.

Okay, I'll stop. I just needed to set the record straight. Sorry!

I am torn between Joe and Carlo but it seems a lot of people are writing Carlo off (if he makes it past the primary) I would not write him off because if Hanlon does not make the primary, believe me, all the Hanlon people will go with DeMaria. Then Carlo has a VERY good chance to win in November.

I really don't think any of them can be written off. The primary isn't a shoe in for any of them.

I'm with you on that massdee. I'm hoping hanlon will fall Tuesday instead of November, but it really could go either way.

I think Keane being on the ballot is a waste. All he's doing is muddying the waters and taking votes from a viable candidate. I have no doubt hanlon will not be re-elected. The big question is has he lost enough of his followers for DeMaria and McGonagle to come out on top in the primary? I'm sure I won't be the only one closely watching the results come in.............

Justme I agree with you if I were a betting person I would bet this election comes down to Joe and Carlo. From what I see Hanlon has lost alot of supporters.

The best and fastest place to get results Tuesday night will be to go to the function that the candidates hold after an election. If you wait for ECTV, it could be a long wait. You can also go up to city hall and wait for the official results. The candidates usually have people at each polling place getting the numbers before the numbers even get to city hall. These people bring the numbers to their candidates function and an unofficial tally is run. You have a pretty good idea how it is going long before the city puts out the official numbers. The only numbers you don't get are the absentee ballots. City Hall has them.

City Hall doesn't have the absentee ballots, Massdee. They are sent to each polling place during the day so that they can be included in the final tally at the end of the night. With the new machines, the counts are available much more quickly now. If each candidate has checkers at each location to collect the numbers, they have the numbers by no later than 8:10 p.m. I agree, though, that the fastest way to get them is to be at the gathering place for one of the candidates, because they usually have a tally board that they post as the numbers come in.

Thanks Citizen, I was trying to remember how they did the absentees. I've been a checker a few times, but has been awhile. I think I will be getting a refresher course on Tuesday night, though.

Citizen, do you know if there is more than one precinct at a polling place, do you need to have two checkers or do they do each precinct one at a time?

If you can have two, it's a lot easier, but now that they print out the tape out of the machine, they usually post it on a wall after they read the numbers so everyone can see it. They won't generally only do one precinct at a time, because they want to get their paperwork wrapped up and get it up to city hall. So, whenever possible, it's best to have a checker at each precinct.

Citizen, thanks. Your help is most appreciated. I guess I will try to recruit my other half to become a checker. This ought to go over well. LOL

LOL . . . I know what you mean, massdee. Whenever I try to recruit family members (especially the kids) for political activities, they look as me as if I've just asked them to donate a kidney!
