As we get closer to the primary and election, I expect things around here will get a bit more heated.

With that in mind, I'd like to request that we all limit the name calling to the candidates and not each other. There have been a few posts recently that clearly indicate a lack of respect for other posters and their opinions. I would hate to see this board turn into an annex of the Mirror.

How about it?

justme, I agree. The long time posters of this board don't usually go in for that type of posting, occasionally, we all get a little ruffled and retaliate with our words. We can try to be tolerant of other's opinions but remember blatant lies and stupidity are hard to swallow and not easy to overlook.

Well, I see there's been a lot of looking............ I'm not sure what it means that only two of us are showing any interest?

I'm with you, justme. As massdee said, the majority of the "regulars" I think try very hard to remain civilized . . . disagreeing without becoming disagreeable, though for myself, I'll admit there are times when emotion overrides reason.

It's going to be a rough few months as the election season heats up, so . . . let's try to be that much more tolerant with those with whom we disagree.

That's why I brought it up CK. I read a post this morning that got my blood going and had to hold back. I may not always be able to do that, but when I let loose I hope it will be to contradict the statements made and not trash the person making the statement. I see that on the Mirror and it makes me crazy.

Some of those people have come over here but, thankfully, haven't lasted long. As the election gets closer, I expect it's going to get worse and I do hope we can all behave like civilized adults. And I know there will be times that won't be easy!

MassDee, CK, justme - I know what you mean. I literally had to walk away from a posting yesterday, deciding it was better not to "disturb the inmate," by rattling the cage....despite the heavy Koolaid drinking of this particular poster. It's when a post that defies logic and rationality that really sets me off, and I shall try much harder to contain my impulse to openly ridicule the few who are trying to spin the news for their own gain.

If we work at it, we can keep each other sane & in control. But there will be times........

Although I am not a "long-time poster", I must agree with the postings above. I also read the Mirror and although there are quite a few interesting posts, there is a lot of trashing which is unnecessary. I have learned a lot from this Forum and am grateful to those of you who have been around for quite some time. This election will prove to be very interesting.

I agree too... BUT... as you can tell from some of my previous posts, it is simply to hard to just keep quiet sometimes. Sorry :(

So happy to see that our Mayor feels he is "Setting the record straight" in his letter to the editor in todays paper. He acts like a child.

I think that is a very optimistic idea, people should agree to disagree but remain respectful.
