The latest rumor that has recently surfaced is that David Ragucci is a candidate to become the next Town Manager in Winthrop not quite sure if this is true but interesting that the town would not hire someone from within, and also word is that Joanne Gregory is one of the finalists to become Assistant City Clerk i hope this is not the case because the most qualified person to become the assistant clerk is Ellen Carr. I am pretty sure that a few of David's department heads will also stay on as part of Mayor Hanlon's administration. Al Borgonzi is staying put as are Peter Pet in parks, Julius Ofore in Engineering. Anybody know what the fate of George Keverian is?
Why would Winthrop hire a manager from within when their financial position needs someone with the experience David has aquired over the past 8 years? He's tough and understands that it's not all about having people like you, it's about getting the job done. If the Winthrop selectman, who put them in the mess they're in, had understood that, they wouldn't have had to change their charter and the position wouldn't exist!
Typically town managers are hired for their experience NOT because they are local and definitely NOT because they are politicaly connected. The town manager is typically apolitical because he has a contract that is binding for a period of years. Almost the same as a position as a CEO of a private company.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could eliminate the political strife in Everett and concentrate on making this city a better place to live?
Emile - no such luck in this city. I heard that the old "new" treasurer informed someone his department that the goal is to dig up as much dirt on the previous administration as possible. Reconciliation? Healing? I think not.
