Far be it for me to defend the Independent, also known as the Codependent....but did you see the Advocate today? It would appear that Mr. Mitchell is back trying to curry favor with Fred Foresteire, who should be able to steer advertising dollars to him if he plays his cards right.

The problems with Mr. Mitchell's "editorial"?

1. Calling the Independent "carpetbaggers" because they're from Revere when Mitchell's from Chelsea is just hypocrisy at it's finest.

2. Attempting to provide Foresteire with coverage for his temper tantrum with the MIAA over the venue for the football game two weeks after the fact is, well....silly. Apart from the fact that the whole thing is old news, people know that Foresteire bragged on ECTV about calling Joe O'Donnell to "fix" the game venue for him. Except the "fix" really wasn't in..and Fred looked stupid. Far from "crucifying" little Freddy - the Independent actually called it accurately.

3. Calling Xaverian coach, Charlie Stevens, who was quoted saying he would have played the game in New Jersey, a "pet" of the MIAA is just classic Fred. Will someone please tell this man to grow the hell up?

4. The new spin on the words between Foresteire and DiDomenico isn't even close to the truth. Even Hanlon supporters were embarrassed by Fred that night, even if Fred wasn't. You weren't even there, Mr. Mitchell; it's hard to write about something you don't know about.

5. The series of stories about Fred were not unrelated. The bottom line is that Fred's behavior gets Fred in trouble and into headlines. Don't blame the Independent for connecting the dots (at last!).

6. The Advocate "remembers" 15 years ago when Foresteire took the schools over? 1990? Ah no, Jimmy - you weren't even publishing in Everett then.

7. The finest "urban" school system in Massachusetts? That's a Fred and Lester MacLaughlin line of bull. Check those MCAS scores and you will find a number of urban systems with better scores, starting with Revere.

8. Foresteire's "justified" reputation is this: he is an indicted on a felony school superintendent, under whose watch erupted a bid rigging scandal and an audit that blazed headlines about uncertified teachers, hundreds of thousands of dollars of misspent state and federal grant money, and a special education slush fund spent on football parades, and don't forget the school department attorney who "deleted" all the records of his work for the school department, despite being paid thousands upon thousands of dollars. Yeah - this is one fine reputation. And what was it that Mitchell thought the Independent did to Fred's reputation that Fred hadn't already done?

Who really wrote this editorial? Probably John Cook Dowd. It has a distinct aroma.

Hi lisa,

Thank you for the holiday wishes, the same to you and your loved ones....Merry Christmas is good for me and the family.

Screw the liberals.

They can try to burn me, but I'm made of tougher stuff than most.

Ciao for now..........

Hopefully this problem can be corrected I don't care where you live but every street has a handicap you get a card you get a blue sign it shouldn't work that way. I am glad they took politics out of it.

Lisa - newsflash...it's a state mandate; if you have a placard, you may petition for a parking space. Typically, you don't get a spot if you have a driveway, but even that hinges on access and the nature of the disability.

Court's right but i was told that in the past when the commission turned a spot down, politicians often overrode the recommendation and approved it anyway. That is what ought to stop with the process change.

Now that Lona DeFeo has pleaded guilty...I wonder how "crushed" Josh is this morning? The CoDependent stated this week that they believed in Fred's innocence and would be crushed if the charges were true. Well, kids - Lona is now a convicted felon, and a number of the contractors have already pled out. So Josh, what does this now say about Fred? This was on his watch! And don't forget that the recipient of the bidding contract schemes was Fred's own former (late) brother-in-law! Repeat after me, Josh, "I am a journalist...must connect the dots....must connect the dots...must connect the dots...."
