Take a few moments tomorrow to remember those who perished and those who lost loved ones on 9/11/01. Six years later -- we must never forget that awful day.
I agree it's important to acknowledge events as important as this one. I'm sure we can all recall with extreme clarity where we were that aweful September morning. This morning as a family we recognized the day and took a moment to reflect on the event, including our men and women currently serving in the military and what they give of themselves each day to the cause. This afternoon I asked my son if there were any special announcements in school maybe a moment of silence in observance of this day. He said no there was nothing. We try to raise our children to be aware of the important events and consequences of not only their actions but also of the actions of others around us. I understand the need for political correctness given our diverse population, but too often we miss the boat because of it. I remember how civil everyone became just after 9/11; people had more patience with each other, and common courtesy was coming back in fashion. How unfortunate for us all that this did not continue; there's no denying we are back to the it's all about me crazy 24/7 pace.
