I really need to know what he is going to do for the City. I still have NOT heard him speak of what he wants to do only what he won't do (that others have).

I know Joe would like to implement a five year fiscal plan to help get the city out of the fiscal mess we are in. It will take time to undo all that has been done.

He would like to maintain the 20% residential tax exemption.

He will control the cities fixed expenses.

He would like to see a vibrant senior community at the old high school.

He will work with city, state and federal agencies to strengthen anti-gang and drug units.

He will work with the School Committee to ensure the best education for our children.

Joe is a life long resident of Everett. His business has been based in Everett since he started it twenty-three years ago. Over the years he has employed many Everett people, and some, from what they learned from Joe, were able to start their own businesses. He knows how to work within a budget. He will run the city like a business. As Alderman, he has voted to help control the spending of the present administration. He voted against the pay raises at city hall. He also voted against paying the school committee. He also voted against Mayor Hanlon's inflated budgets.
Joe is smart and will put competent people in as department heads, and if they are not doing their jobs properly, he will replace them. He wants the city to be clean. He wants to get our streets repaired.

Joe wants to restore our city. He wants a better Everett. He wants our long time residents to stay and stop moving out of our community. He wants more after school programs for the kids. He wants to invite growth in our city.

He wants to work for all of us and make living in Everett a source of pride, again.

* Proposed double Tax Exemption for Everett's senior citizens in 2005

The things that I posted are things that Joe has said and are in his various ads and mailers. Lynda wanted to know some of what Joe's plans are, I was only trying to answer her.

Thanks massdee but the point is: I got that mailer and saw the web site but have not heard a word from the man himself. When given the opportunity on the EC TV he said that he would do it another time. I thought I was going to finally hear his vision from him.

I like Joe for mayor but to give credit to him for proposing the offshore unloading of LNG, now that sounds like a stretch. I believe that he may have supported a plan.

For those of us who watch most of the city council meetings, you will remember McGonagle proposing a plan for off shore unloading of the LNG tankers. He had done a great deal of homework on the subject and had representatives from Distrigas appear at the meeting.

Lynda, I am in hopes when ECTV does their show spot lighting all the candidates that Joe will be more forth coming. I did not see the interview you are speaking about so I can not comment on it. I was told by a neighbor that Joe was being baited to say something negative about Carlo and John but Joe would not do that. Like I said, I didn't see it so I don't know for sure.

And nothing came of it, so how productive was that?

Massdee, McGonagle was not being baited into saying something negative. He said he wanted to move the city forward in a positive manner, and he was asked to elaborate on what he meant by that. He chose not to do so. As you and I have discussed here before -- and where Lynda and I agree -- is that McGonagle is going to have to be more concrete in his answers instead of speaking in sound bites and cliches. I think we've all had enough of sound bites and cliches and vague responses to serious issues.

Citizen, as I said often, I agree. I did not see the interview, I have checked many times on Chanel 16 but have not been able to catch it. So, I really can't comment on it. I hope he becomes more forth coming, he needs to.

Thanks, massdee. Sometimes a break is needed, know what I mean? But it's good to catch up with everyone.
