Welcome back, Citizen! You've been missed. I think we're all in agreement that McGonagle needs to articulate the vision...because we've been fooled before with lovely ads, nice pictures and charming vaguaries....that didn't mean anything. It doesn't make one a chief executive of a $124M company. |

I read something on the other message board and do not know if it's true or not. Maybe, someone here can tell me. Does Thibeault have a law suit pending against the city of Everett, or did he ever have one? I also read this, if true could it be a conflict of interest for Carlo to accept donations from Thibeault? Does anyone know? |

There may be more to it, but briefly it appears this is what happened:
The City of Everett signed a contract to sell the former city yard to Mr Thibeault during the Ragucci administration. The deal was not consumated before Ragucci left. Hanlon became mayor and reneged on the deal causing Thibeault to file suit. |

I thought that these City Yards were already owned by Mr Thibeault. |

Lynda, the city still owns the old City Yards. I think you might be confusing that with the property on lower Broadway. |

Joe has a decent ad in the Leader Herald today. I believe he is beginning to let us know what he intends to do if elected. |

I thought Thibeault owned the city yards too. I thought that was what was holding up any developement there. Some law suit or something. Are you sure Massdee?

massdee is correct. The sale of the city yards never happened and Thibeault does have a pending suit.
I can't see any conflict of interest as far as Carlo is concerned. I am concerned about a conflict if Raneiri is elected and he retains his position with the city. |

During the Ragucci admistration, the city entered into a purchase and sale agreement with Thibeault to transfer ownership of the city yards to Thibeault. Some of the abutters to the property had a problem with this agreement and blocked the transaction. After Hanlon took over, he wanted to void the purchase and sale agreement since it had not been acted upon in the specified period. If the agreement had been voided, the property would have been put out for bid again. I don't know the details of where the transaction currently stands (i.e., who's suing who). |

justme, not that I support Raneiri, but why do you think that would be a conflict of interest? Simonelli works for the school department and King worked or works for the housing authority. I believe as long as they only collect one pay check from the city, then it is not a problem. |

I just realized its not just Raneiri, its Cornelio too, and maybe others. I just don't think any city employee should be in a position to affect a policy decision. As city employees, they have a vested interest in the outcome of many of the items that come before the CC & BOA.
Simonelli, as a school employee, can recluse himself from the [infrequent] votes that have to do with the schools. However, since the schools are the only thing that are truly separate, I don’t believe that anyone who may ultimately be affected by something they decide should be involved.

I didn't know Cornelio worked for the city. I thought he worked for Carlo. Anyway that is what someone told me. |

I was surprised to read in the Advocate that Hanlon had outspent Joe on his primary campaign. Now, I am interested in how much Carlo has spent up until the primary. The paper said as of Wednesday, Carlo had still not filed his campaign finance report. Does anyone know if it has been filed yet? I don't want to bother the city clerk again. |

Ragucci did have a purchase and sale for the old city yard but Woody's tires who is a supporter AND CONTRIBUTOR of Hanlon's took the city to court and continued to bloke the sale. When Woody's friend Hanlon came to office he killed the deal and now has a law suit that the taxpayers will pay. Woody does not want the city yards to be sold because they use our property for their business...go down there and you will see them repairing their trucks on our land. Also the used car dealer uses our land and has his cars all over it. ANOTHER FRIEND AND CONTRIBUTOR TO HANLON. |
