Nothing, JoeSister - the penguin was providing an expanded explanation about the situation at the city yards, which was brought up earlier in the string by a number of people. Thank you, Penguin, for clarifying the situation. I don't think most people are aware of the various issues at the city yard. |

thanks for the voting record massdee. I wish it contained more information about each individual vote. We wouldn't want anyone to misunderstand exactly what being voted on....would we? |

I read in the yesterday's Leader-Herald in the ECTV schedule section that the new campaign videos will begin airing on Monday. |

Councilor Keane Endorses McGonagle
James Keane endorses Joe for Mayor Citing Alderman Joe McGonagle's intelligent grasp of the issues facing the City of Everett, and his strong desire to do what is right for the City, Ward 3 Councilor James A. Keane endorses Joe McGonagle for Mayor.
"After working with Joe for the past year and a half on issues we both care for and hearing about his passionate commitment to the City, I endorse Joe McGonagle for Mayor. Joe and I share a common ideal that was my campaign platform, 'Put Everett First.' In that light, I am confident that Joe will do what is right for the city and will put partisan politics aside for the betterment of the community. I look forward to Joe McGonagle becoming Mayor of Everett, working to end the fiscal ills that ail us, putting aside politics of special interests, and uniting us as a community."
Joe and I share a common ideal.

Carlo filed his Finance Report on September 27 -
He took in $67,114.56 from contributors mostly outside the City.
He spent $47,760.74.
Ending balance is $19,353.82.
Request a copy from the City Clerk - it's very interesting reading. |

ECTV didn't have the best night broadcasting the new campaign videos. They managed to cut off the very end of McGonagle's video. I just watched the end of it via the link Massdee provided and nothing of substance got cut so I'm pretty sure it was just an honest mistake. The aldermen/school committee program also got cut short. It stopped in what seemed like the middle of Stat Smith's presentation and he was the first up for the school committee; I assume there were more school committee videos even though there is only one contested seat. The alderman's presentations were interesting because both Gregory and Hicks took pretty direct shots at their opponents. Didn't really catch much of the common council presentations because I was trying to watch too many other things at the same time. That one did make it all the way to the end though as I just happened to catch it as I was flipping channels.
By the way Massdee, Joe actually challenged Carlo to a series of debates. I'll be ecstatic if we get even one. |

I'm with you on that one, tetris. The ball is now in Carlo's court and I hope we will see a debate or two from them. Is it only me, or was Carlo's new video almost the same as his primary video? |

DeMaria's new video had two new segments inserted into the original one. I thought the original version was very well produced and DeMaria presented him very well; I don't feel that the two new segments were as good in comparison. We got little to no new information and I didn't feel that DeMaria presented himself as well in these new segments. I felt, in the first new segment, Carlo's presentation took two steps back; in the second new segment, he was better but was not as good as he was in the original video. I also felt that the reused ecomonic development segment didn't hold up since too much of it is geared towards the present administration.
On the other hand, McGonagle's video appeared to be entirely new, with the maybe the exception of some footage of the candidate around the town. The video felt fresh because it contained a lot of information; maybe some of it was old but it was presented in a different manner. The video seemed to suffer from being over-produced (too much usage to the McGonagle campaign sign) and McGongale isn't the greatest speaker either. In fact, I felt that McGonagle's speaking presentation in either of his videos was not as good DeMaria was in his original video.
Just one man's opinion. |

tetris, I don't know if you know Joe personally or not. What I find really odd is that Joe really has the gift of gab and a very out going personality and neither comes across in his videos. I am in hopes that if a debate comes to fruition, he will be more himself. |
