I think applause is in order for Kay Conway, who took the time to write about the attendance record of the Common Council. It appeared in Wednesday's Independent. Of course, showing up for a meeting isn't everything - as we witnessed with several members of the CC who showed up without budget books. Nevertheless, she does make a very good point about attendance record and the salaries some of these lackluster councilors make.

Accountability! What a concept. November cometh soon.

Kay Conway is a liar and a story teller that should stay away from politics. She is the disgrace of the city that does no good for anyone including the taxpayer.

And what is your great contribution to the city and the political process, Taylor? Seems that you don't have a good word to say for anyone or anything.

The next time you want to see a liar, just look in a mirror Taylor. We all know if someone says anything against hanlon you're right there trying to drive the bus over them.

Kay had a very valid point. It's time our elected officials be held to the same standards we expect from other city employees. They are part-time employees and, as such, should be held accountable. If they don't have the time, or interest, to actively participate, why should they receive a check every month?

The Advocate has the attendance record for the Common Council on page 22. It's a real eye opener.

Kay Conway is a very nice woman who worked in the auditor's office for years and now works in the library. She is honest and just plain fed up with what she's seeing in the city. You can't blame her for speaking up. We don't have the luxury of looking at this city through the proverbial rose colored lenses. Things are "not okay" - and everyone, including city council, has to show up and be accounted for.
