Oh, if my kid was there and had so much as a cough, I would sue their A@@es!! They are so arrogant and think they are better than everyone. They make me sick. Obremski should take his kids for a wlak through there.

Perhaps the parents could insist that the air be tested by an independent authority? Do an end run around the school committee... |

Maybe someone should go down there with a camera? I don't think any physical harm this may cause is anything that will show up immediately. Also wouldn't air quality testing have to be done at the time the asbestos is being removed for it to show anything?
Is the superintendent really that stupid that he would endanger the students, faculty, and workers this way?

When you're all powerful you can do whatever you want. When the people who work for you don't think for themselves you can do whatever you want. The teachers union is aware of what's going on also. |

I've never had any dealings with the superintendent, or the schools. However, when things like this come up, I can't help but be amazed! |

Oh you have not had the pleasure of witnessing Freddy's meltdowns. If you dare question him he will never forget it. He thinks he is god, and people let him continue. My husband said to call the EPA and other agencies. They can go in whether Freddy likes it or not, and take air samples which will show any presence of asbestos. And if the school employees were removing it and they are not certified, chances are there is plenty of it in the air in that building.

Being on the receiving end of one of Freddy's tirades is not a pleasant experience. I really thought he would be smarter than this, having asbestos removed by non certified employees, when students, faculty and other are in the building, I think would be against the law. |

It is against the law, which is why I'm having trouble understanding why he would do it. In addition to putting all of the people in that building in harms way, the fines are quite large. It's not quite like he's thumbing his nose at the school committee. |

Because he can. He does not care about anyone.

Thank you Sally, I will call the EPA on Monday morning. I did leave a message on their web site. |

Well, come to think of it, if this is true, it wouldn't be the first time Freddy has broken the law. |

Has anyone heard anything more on this? I personally didn't hear anything from my kids' teachers or parents at the Parlin, but saw this posting late last night.
Are there any details known as far as what area in the school or rooms where this abestos removal was being done?
thanks |

This was going on downstairs in the school. Younger kids may have not noticed, but there was a sign that said "asbestos removal" It has apparently ended and he got away with it. Teachers were asked to lie about it if asked, and because Freddy has them afraid for their jobs, they will not speak out for fear of retribution. The Board of Health, local and state, were notified as well as the Everett public nurse. I don't know what happens now, let's pray nothing turns up in the children, or anyone in the school, in the years to come. |

thanks for the reply Gabby. Yes, this is upsetting because one of my kid's class is downstairs. He and some of his friends have had a coughs for a while, but he does suffer from seasonal alergies - but then something like this, you can't help but wonder.
This is so illegal, without qualified people to remove and dispose of it. And to remove it while kids are in school that/those days?!
Although I married into Everett, and don't know too much about it's politics, sounds like this dictatorship that has the people working in the school system walking on eggshells for fear of there jobs has got to end!
