In all actuality, the citizens were not being provided with the real, unvarnished truth, Dominic. The problem with tossing this business under suspension is that it only increased people's suspicions about an already suspicious character - Mr. Thibeault. His word isn't worth much around here; not with the crap he's pulled at WoodWaste. All the pressboards and PowerPoint presentations in the world can't make him any better than he is.
This is not about people being opposed to change; this is about people being sick and tired of getting the short end of the stick. The federal government has already spent a significant amount of brownfield money to rehab this area - why would we want Everett to take a huge step backwards and embrace anything that Thibeault has to offer -namely, another waste facility. Everett has had a proud industrial heritage, but that is our past. We can do better than that and we must do better than that; if the zoning regs don't permit another waste facility down there, then there's no reason to embrace this "development." Tell the new "owner" - if he is the owner (hard to tell, given his propensity to play with the truth), to get back to the drawing board and create a development that works within existing regulations. |

Dominic, with all due respect, if it was so important that the public should be allowed to hear it, then it shouldn't have been shoved onto the calendar under suspension. If Carlo is that interested in the public's right to know, he should put it on the calendar in a proper fashion, he should not make the comment that this issue has been part of a political advertisement, and he should request that the meeting be open to public comment. Otherwise, it was just a cheap political stunt, and it backfired on him. |

OK, I'll go first...although I was hoping to hear from some of the regular posters here first...anyway, here it goes...
Why does Joe continually bash Carlo with voting records? He is hand picking the votes that make him look good and not including any of the debate that may have occurred around those votes. |

It's called politics. It should be obvious to all that the votes that Joe chose to include in his ads and on his website are designed to make his case. Unfortunately, some people have taken that information and turned it into THE list. Joe's ads do not include the debate around any votes unless they also make his case. It's Carlo job to make the other side of argument. He has chosen not to. It's an interesting tactic. It's one that could work out very well for him or could backfire; there's probably no middle ground. If executed properly, it fits in very well with his message of change.
But..c'mon, lets get to the big one. |

Not sure what else I can add to what I have said over the past month or so. The city cannot support any more condominiums......clean commercial/light industrial development is the way to go. |

Dominic - if it's not too much trouble, could you define what you mean by "clean commercial/light industrial development?" |

In todays paper he has a letter stating that all he has told us about DeMaria is true and that it is public record so if it is public record enough already we who want to see will look if they dont believe what he has been trying to get through to us he is begining to sound like hanlon thinking we are all dumb or slow or something.

I don't think I am going to give any of the incumbents a vote, except School Committee Ward 2, Guiliano. Sally, I'm with you, I need to come up with a lot of write ins, too. LOL |

quoted from the Mirror
"How sad that Mc Gonagucci resorts to paying two women who barely speak English to set up De Maria. He even took them to the police station to try and force them to fabricate a story about Carlo. The girls refused and the cops refused to file anything because they saw right through it. If I had ever considered Mc Gonagucci, I never will again. He is as dirty and twisted as they come. De Maria shows he has class and can stand tall among the pathetic people who choose to run a campaign on lies. have some integrity | 10.27.07 - 9:49 am | # "
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If this is true, politics have taken an even uglier turn in Everett.

Sally - this is what's known as "spin." There was an altercation and this is how the candidate's people are trying to turn it around. |
