I agree Head. There are way to many people out there that think that their vote doesn't matter. We need to get this city back on track and I personally think that Carlo is the man to do the job. |

A vote for Carlo is a vote for "more of the same" - doesn't it matter that Carlo voted for every budget increase and is to blame for our huge tax increase? At least Mcgonagle didnt vote for these increases - And who wants Vetrano to stick around city hall? Whatashame! |

I just read this over on the mirror.
" Any of us who know Carlo well enough can believe he would promise giving driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. He has quite the history of playing both sides of an issue. Care for a trip down memory lane?
Let's see, first he was against the New High School. Later he was for it. He voted to make Billy Cardello an Alderman to fill a vacant seat. But later he voted for Barbara Collins. He sort of was a Ragucci man, until Hanlon came along, but have no fear, he ended up running against him, however now he accepts his endorsement. This from someone who is trying to REPLACE the man who has endorsed him!
I guess you could say he was for Hanlon before he was against him.
Then he was against Hanlon's audit, but later voted for it. Or was it the other way around? With Carlo, who can tell?
So for those of us who know him well, it's just par for the course. I bet now he claims to have "misunderstood" what the Latino immigrants rights organization director asked him if he supported driver's licenses for illegals. We know about what a crisis LEGAL immigrants are having obtaining a driver's license (NOT!). How could anyone misunderstand such a hot-button issue?
So which is it, Mr. DeMaria? Were you "duped" again and didn't understand the question? Or were you simply following years of saying one thing and then later doing another?
Of course, if the voters of Everett don't mind such an unreliable record, it's their perrogative. But no one should act surprised - especially Carlo - when these multiple positions come back to bite him on the behind." Anonymous | 11.03.07 - 4:05 pm | #

I have been avoiding this blog for quite sometime but I did check in and wanted to respond to this asinine comment about the driver's license's for illegal immagrants. That is absolutely absurd, Carlo was misquoted (which is a severe understatement). The leader herald clearly endorses Joe, which is fine but what they printed about Carlo was slander and libel and that is why Carlo and his lawyers will be suing Mr. Cunnane and Mr. Almeida.
Please contact Carlo if anyone has any questions regarding this matter, headquarters : 617-380-2707, home office: 617-381-1130 |

Illegal immigrants are a huge issue in Everett, Mr. DeMaria doesn't believe in making them more comfortable here in the city by issuing them a drivers license. But unfortunutely in politics voters are lead to become misinformed by people with an agenda. And by the way driver's licenses are a state issue not a municipal one. |

Also, there is a letter from Carlo posted at the Everett Police Station's message board per request of the dept. regarding the immigration license issue, the dept. wanted to clarify that Carlo was not against the police and that Carlo is not for illegals having licenses. Pretty interesting........ |

AVGMOM . . . do you have a copy of the letter? Could you post it here for all to see? I'm sure we'd all love to see a letter from Carlo that claims the police department asked him to write them a letter explaining that he is not in favor of licenses for illegal immigrants. And as I taxpayer, paying the salaries of the members of the police department, I don't appreciate a public building being used for political purposes. In fact, I believe it's against the law, so if such a letter is posted in the police station, the department is violating the law.
Are you sure you want to stick with this story? |

Hey Kane, it's the truth, maybe the police were offended by Almeida's lies in the paper and that's why they requested the letter, it has nothing to do with political purposes KANE. If anything Almeida's editoral was clearly politacal sabotage, or at least he tried, because people clearly won't believe that crap.
I don't have a copy of the letter on hand, but I will do my best to see if it is on file @ Carlo's headquarters, I am sure someone will be around there tomorrow. You are insulting by saying that I made up a story Kane, I am a grown woman, mother of two and I don't need to be spoken to like that .. Got it? |

That's pretty tough talk, AVGMOM . . . maybe I should rethink my statement.
No . . . I don't think so.
I will state once again . . . if, as you claim, this letter is posted at the police station as you claim, it is a violation of election law. If you're okay with your candidate doing that, and with the police allowing him to do that, then good for you.
I'm sure we'll all be interesting in seeing the letter if you are able to obtain a copy of it. In fact, since the DeMaria campaign saw fit to post it in a public building, that makes it a public document, so in keeping in line with the public records law, I certainly hope there is a copy on file at the DeMaria campaign headquarters. |

Oh . . . one more thing . . . I'm not saying you made the story up, AVGMOM . . . I'm simply saying I don't believe you. |

Kane....glad to see you are back on top of things for your candidate. I admire your dedication. I noticed on the other board that there is a bit of censorship going on today. The waters are pretty muddy and us little people can't seem to get our arms around the truth. Any chance you can use your political connections to post the truth for us? After all, it would be good to have all the facts when we go to the polls. |

Good evening, Dominic. I don't know that I'm so much dedicated to a candidate as I am tired of the ugliness . . . and I speak of that which comes from both sides, frankly.
Regarding what has been going on over at the other board . . . in all honesty, I don't know what the facts are, and since we all try very hard out here to keep the conversation on a higher level, I'd prefer to leave it at that unless I have something verifiable that could be posted.
By the way, Dominic . . . I admire your dedication to your cause and candidate as well. I've enjoyed reading your posts. Thank you for becoming a member of the board! |

Kane....I couldn't agree with you more. The ugliness in politics here in Everett is crazy. It takes everyones focus off of what is important in moving the city forward.
I have to admit though....reading a statement like that from you is a bit tough for me to understand. The candidate you are backing is the antithesis of what you are preaching. |
