As a close personal friend of Joe, I found it very low class of the oppositions rumor spreading about his health. Facts are Joe was rushed to the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on Saturday and was released several hours later, he was diagnosed with a case of diverticulitis. Shame on the opposition for the rumors that were spreading and what they put Joe and his family through.

Who says it is Carlo who started this "rumor." That is a jump to judgement, just like it was a jump to assume Joe was intoxicated or was in a fight or whatever the "rumor" was. Carlo has showed all along in this campaign that he would not resort to dirty politics. Why would he start now at the very end of the campaign? Joe Mc Gonagle has shown he had to resort to dirty politics over the entire campaign. He obviously was not confident enough in his own qualifications to run on his own merit. He resorted to nasty innuendo and rumors. I will be thrilled when Carlo wins and starts to bring honesty and integrity back to this city. We will no longer be the laughing stock of the state.

| I never said it was Carlo himself, but I can guarantee you this, it wasn't Joe or any of his people. You gotta be kindin right? I guess you mean telling the truth is dirty politics, pull the voting records yourself from the City Clerk, it's public record. Even then the amnesty for tax delinquents wasn't mentioned, Carlo tried pushing that through twice, keep kickin the tax payers Carlo, you saw what it did for Hanlon. Stick up fpr your candidate, I don't have a problem with that, but at least tell the truth, that is of course unless the truth makes your candidate look bad. Have a nice day. |

Dear Friend:
Thank you for your concerns and get well wishes. I am pleased to say after a brief visit to the Melrose Wakefield Hospital, I am home resting comfortably after being diagnosed with a mild case of diverticulitis.
I am feeling much better and plan on hitting the campaign trail in full force starting Monday morning at 6:30AM. I welcome you to join me and hold a sign at the rotary at Broadway and Main Street.
We will be also holding signs in Everett Square tomorrow evening from 5:00PM to 7:00PM, followed by a Workers Meeting at 7:00PM at the Silver Fox II.
Over the past ten months, we have worked too hard to let false statements and innuendos tarnish the tremendous progress we have made, and will continue to make when I am elected Mayor of the City of Everett.
We need to work hard over the next three days to get our vote out on Election Day.
It’s time to elect a Mayor that looks out for the taxpayer’s best interests and surrounds himself with respectful, hard working people like I have. That candidate is Joe McGonagle.

| I can tell you that I was with Carlo at his breakfast rally when he heard the news of Joe's hospitalization and he was sincere in hoping that he was going to be okay. I said this before I have heard Carlo 1st hand always say he wanted a clean campaign and when negative newpaper ads were drawn up and presented to Carlo, he refused to print them. He wanted run on his own merits and most importantly run a clean campaign. Regardless of the reason why Joe was hospitalized the DeMaria campaign wishes him a well recovery. |

Sally, why are you attacking Marie? She made a simple statement, she didn't attack your candidate in any way, and it is a shame that the statement had to be issued in the same way it is a shame that Carlo felt he needed to include a statement in his ads condemning the alleged lies and dirty tactics used against him by his opposition.
No one accused Carlo of being the one to spread the rumors over the past 24 hours, but I have to say, of all of the rumor and innuendo that has flow around about both candidates in the past two months, the material that has been posted over at the Mirror and alluded to in a few posts here are the most vicious I have seen not only in this campaign but in any campaign I've ever watched. I don't know who's responsible for spreading them, but I wish we could all rise above this CRAP and focus on things that really matter.

Carlo's sincerity has never been in question. I am sure he wishes Joe well. I hate to see people trying to drag Carlo through the mud for a situation that many know the truth about. People are accusing him of starting rumors. From what I hear, things were much different than we have been told. Carlo continues to gain supprt due to negative campaigning on the other side. Keep up the good work.

I am not attacking Marie. I hate when people post things when they have no idea what the truth is. Do some research before you assume what went on. And people are blaming Carlo's people for spreading rumors.

Honestly, though Kane Carlo was just defending himself. Throughout this campaign there were several issues he could have spoke about Joe in his ads, but chose not to waste the ink.
Now, let's all move on from this. |

I agree, AVGMOM, and now McGonagle is defending himself. It's two sides of the same coin. That's all I'm saying. Everyone has the right to defend him/herself when they feel the truth about them is being distorted.
