Well from what i can see, it looks like the "New Beginning" is off to a blazing start, almost a foot of snow and the city was plowed and cleaned the best it has been in years. So all of you who are looking to start the negative garbage 10 days into Carlo's first term i guess you are all a bit disappointed. Rumor has it that Stat Smith is already gearing up for a run for Mayor, do not know how true it is, but does this guy ever stop. Must already be tired of dealing with the gangsters and thieves at the State House. I wonder who he is with in the fight for the Speaker's gavel, im sure he is planted firmly in DiMasi's pocket. I haven't heard anything about Stat running for Mayor but I did hear Robert Van Campen is going to make a run for Mayor. |

I think the rumor about Stat is just that - a rumor. Stat has often said that being mayor is a thankless job and that he wanted to be state rep. So, justthefacts- we should probably stick to "just the facts" until we know otherwise. It's only January! You wouldn't want the new mayor to appear paranoid by putting something out there like this.
Tails, based on previous posts, and if I recall correctly - I don't think you were ever a fan of Stat's to begin with. |

I think you are missing the point Court, i said it was just that a rumor, and you should know as well as anyone that as soon as you become the Mayor, you are immediately in some ways running for re-election already. There are certain factions in this city that are just waiting to pounce as soon as they perceive in their own little minds that they could do a better job. Whether it is pure jealously, or in Stat Smith's case he is just on a power trip in my opinion. Because unless you kiss the ring of the almighty incompetent Speaker of the House and tow the line, you really never have any power up on Beacon Hill unless you are in a leadrship position and we all know that takes years of boot licking. I make no secret that i am a friend of Carlo DeMaria and yes i did work with his campaign, im just saying that i will use this forum as i always have to answer back when i feel as though people are taking unfair shots because they have their own agenda and would do anything they could to seize control of the Corner Office. Dont forget, as i have said before i am the only one out here who signs everything i post and will continue to do so. PAUL D. DOBBINS

Actually, justthfcts, you're probably right. There are factions waiting to pounce, but I don't think you can count Stat among them. He really thinks the mayor's job is thankless, while the state reps job is a good little niche for him. The newspapers have certainly hinted (well, more than hinted) about certain "factions," and I haven't seen Stat's name yet.
That said, Stat did give Mayor Hanlon the business from time to time...but with very good reason. I don't think I've seen a more incompetent administration in my life, nor one with such a proclivity to play with the truth. It's hard to be polite to people who just baldface lie to you. |

Hello Mr. Tell; Welcome to the forum.
It hasn't gone unnoticed that with your very first post there was no hello, no introduction. Your first post was to attack a long time member. You didn't point to anything specific in anything he has posted...and you "think" you know who he is. It's not very sporting of you, for one thing and against the rules of the road here in the forum.
Given the number of brand new posters with a single minded vengeance, it would appear that Emile has struck a nerve. I will ask you to refute whatever it is he's posted that you find offensive, and leave the personal stuff at the gate.
Thanks. |

Wasn't there a time that we discussed things, didn't always agree, but still managed to be civil to each other? It's really too bad a few bad apples want to spoil that.............. |

Emile has been taking quite a few hits on here and on "The Mirror" the past few days. They have also been going after Lynda over on "The Mirror." It would seem they both have somehow ruffled some feathers.
Lighten up people, we all have a right to our opinions. You can agree to disagree, but personal attacks on our fellow posters will not be tolerated. |

MassDee, justme, Citizen- it would appear that these are people who don't plan on participating in the usual fashion. They have an agenda, which is to bully and silence anyone who isn't a "true believer" in the current administration. Several of these posters have signed up since January, or have "morphed" in the new year with a different name.
It's fine to debate the message. It is not fine to attack the person. |

You're right, Court. I just really hate what's happening here.
I think the worst of it is that most of us really want to see Carlo succeed. Not necessarily because we supported him, but because the city needs to get better. The last couple of years have really taken a toll on everyone and we need to work together to get things back on an even keel. Harassing and attacking people who have differing opinions doesn't help anyone! |

What is really disturbing, it's not just DeMaria or McGonagle supporters, it's both sides, but the personal attacks seem to be coming from supporters of Carlo.
Justme, I agree with you, most of us, no mater who we supported want Carlo to succeed.
Anyone have any news on what is going on at City Hall? Has anyone else been let go? Any names on replacements? The only name I have heard is Brain Zaniboni at City Services. |

It is the sore losers, who lost their jobs, who now have time to write on the blog all day. Good luck to them.

Weren't you posting a personal attack about Emile over on the other blog, and a rude crack about McGonagle? Maybe I have the wrong Sally? Sorry if it wasn't you. |

from the Everett Mirror Blog
WELL LARRY, I AGREE WITH YOU I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A MAN NAMED EMILE BUT THAT REALLY DOESN'T MATTER, I THINK HE IS JEALOUS OF CARLO WITH THE DONUT REMARKS, HE DESERVES TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT HE IS OUR MAYOR LIKE IT OR NOT. I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE JOB HE DID WITH THE SNOW REMOVAL. EMILE MAKE YOUR COMMENTS, BUT THE DONUT THING IS NOT VERY NICE. I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU DO FOR A LIVING WITH YOUR PUPS. TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED THAT IS ALL LARRY WAS TRYING TO SAY. EVERYONE ELSE GET OVER IT PROTECTING HIM. SALLY Anonymous | 01.18.08 - 12:36 pm | #
