I agree with you both.

First off, Councilor Simonelli is NOT getting the same respect as other councilors do. I can hear chatter through the TV of other big mouths sitting behind him. Very disrespectful, and I sympathize for him. Those big mouths should be told to keep quite first.

I hope that whoever the next Common Council President, will take that into consideration. If the president had informed him at the beginning of the meeting, or, when he first asked for item 14, she should have informed him THEN, that he could have made a personal statement instead, then the entire situation could have been avoided. While I agree, I wish he would keep him emotions more in check, at least his heart is there.

There was no need for a recess other than theatrics. I still like Lorrie Bruno and have respect for her, but she is not treating everyone equally and that was proven last night.

I still feel he had every right to put it under suspension. I believe he was waiting to see if the announcement was in the Thursday paper, which it was not, like it was promised.

I think that part of my point was there was enough blame to go around; if either of them had been a little more pro-active about the issue, this probably wouldn't have happened.

I will agree that Councilor Simonelli isn't getting as much respect as the rest of his fellow councilors. But I also feel that he's brought some of that upon himself. This year, he probably has been ruled out of order more than any other councilor. I believe that he's the only one who has had to have a recess called as a result of his actions and this wasn't the first time . But I also think that some of the other councilors have used these opportunities to pile on ridicule in his direction. There seems to be a little bit of a high school mentality permeating at least a portion of the Common Council these days.

I didn't think that President Bruno was solely to blame for the Simonelli issue. With that said though, I can't wait until the new year and hopefully a new president for the Common Council. To me, last night's meeting was probably the worst Common Council meeting of the year. Yes, there have be longer ones that caused me much bigger headaches. But with such a short agenda that contained mostly benign items, it just seemed out of control. In the past, the members seemed to help keep Councilor Bruno on track. Last night, they didn't and the contagion spread to some of the members. Only four more meetings. I really hope that this is the last time that I have to post this extensively on this subject.

Simonelli is the only member of the common council sticking up for the folks. What a difference a year makes! Can you just imagine what we would be hearing if Hanlon had pulled this Wood Waste crap. What happened to all you people that was outraged a year ago? Face it folks, DeMaria is not the mayor we thought he would be. His campaign promises were bull. He has not kept his word. He spends like a drunken soldier. I don't know about the rest of you, but I can't afford the rate our taxes are rising. It's time for these politicians to stop and tighten their belts. The mayor's staff and some department heads are very over paid. I'm sick of it and I'm sick of paying for it.

What happened to the defenders for the taxpayers? That was all we heard last year from the Common Council. Then in a revenge ploy to Mr. Hanlon they voted down the sale of the devens. I thought the same thing myself that if this was Mr. Hanlon pulling this Wood Waste trash you would have heard from much more members.

I watched the circus of a meeting and there is no control. The rotary is a mess people are complaining and it was made out to give these donors credit. Make D.C.R. do thier own work they do in other cities.

Wood Waste is in disrepair and the mayor should do something about it but he chooses not to along with the snowed common council. I had enough.

I did a little research and found out that President Bruno has allowed five items too be added under suspension so far this year. One of them happened to be the issue of a Wood Waste meeting back at the August meeting.

Dreams, you are right. That was a circus last night. Ranieri should learn to keep his big rude mouth shut when others are speaking. He's another one that needs to go. Bruno can't control a meeting. That nickname I see for the mayor is exactly right, Clowno. Its fitting since we have a 3 ring circus up there. The adminstration the board of alderman and the common council. I have no respect for almost all of them.

2. Will anyone ask why there is a second set of revolving funds to be authorized or if the limits are appropriate? Why am I so hung up on this item?

3. I'm kind of surprised to see this item on the agenda; I'd forgotten that this designation needed to be approved by both bodies. If this also needed approval from the Common Council, was it the right thing for the Board of Alderman to approve the purchasing agent appointment without this passing the council first? Not that I think that it won't pass the CC, but, you never know. What would the BOA do if it failed? Rescind the appointment? That would be a nice black eye.

4. Oh, hell. Why not? It'll keep Marcus quiet.

5. Were the police actually using these vehicles? Undercover? Maybe impounds? Does anyone know? Just curious.

6. I hope the confusion over the trial period for making Bradford Street one way is finally cleared up.

7. I lost track of where this ranks on Tails' list of favorites. I saw some permits for signs in last week's Leader-Herald at 135 Santilli Highway and I thought...Finally, it could be over! But, not so fast. After a Google Map search, I found that to be Mellon's address; must be new BNY/Mellon signs. So, everybody's favorite dope opera "As the Stomach Turns..." continues.

11. So, let's get this straight. There's been $2 million dollars less of free cash applied to the tax levy than last year. The budget went up a fair amount too. I'm not sure what the net change in TIFF's is and how much new growth there is. But, doesn't it seems likely that this can't be done without the city coming up with an additional large sum of money to put towards the tax levy? I know that it's not the best of times for anybody but doesn't that include the city too? And will we ever break the cycle of depending on free cash to subsidize the tax rate?. I think that it great that the tax payers get some benefit from the free cash; but, what's going to happen when free cash isn't as abundant?

15. I've seen Chelsea's local access channel broadcast broadcast on their web site in the past. so, it can be done. I like the idea. But, I think that they should always find a way to charge non-residents for it on a PPV basis. Who wouldn't pay to see some of the stuff we get to see all the time? On second thought...maybe not.

16. I don't think that some of the streets in Ward 1 got swept this week (Monday) either; is this the same issue as some of Ward 2 is on the same schedule? But, at least, we didn't the police presence that usually goes along with it.

17. Item 3 - Isn't the school department responsible for the maintenance of their own buildings?

Who is the women talking about the water meters? She is standing at the podium, chewing gum. That is very unprofessional.

2. Shouldn't Councilor DiFlorio understand revolving accounts by now? I'm glad Ms. Deveney gave an explanation of why there was a second order to authorize revolving funds this year even though the answer was probably fairly obvious.

3. Nobody asked how the appointment could have been made before the Common Council approved this designation. Why am I not surprised?

6. Print up pamphlets for a 30 day trial and wait another month to start the trial. I hope this is all worth it.

7. Almost a year and the soap opera continues and continues and continues...

9. It's amazing how much water that the city's been giving away. Nice catch. Sounds like it could be a nice chunk of change.

11. Do we have a budget director again?

15. Well, it won't be live but meetings available online of on demand. Another valuable research tool.

18. Under suspension? Are you kidding me? Where was this proposal last Wednesday? Of course the mayor has been working on this. I'm glad they're trying to work with the DEP on it. Some times I think Ms. Deveney speaks too much like a lawyer when she's at the podium. Tonight, I thought she was very good and made more sense than most other people who have ever spoken on the issue. Where's Billy Cardello been on this issue before tonight? I'm interested to see where this goes.

19. Does Councilor Simonelli read the boards for issues?

20. The Devens School project gets increased to 25 units with no debate or reasons given to the public. Maybe there's a good reason but why should the public get to hear it? Typical.

Three more meetings with Bruno as president; let's just hope the next president runs a much smoother meeting.

That Wood Waste discussion was the most planned event I ever saw and was academy award material.

Why didn't Billy Cardello mentioned the tracks in Chelsea before? Now, the high priced lawyers will come up with something to oppose of that.

Rosa DiFlorio yelling about an election year??????? I always liked her, but she's too personally involved, and should not even be speaking on it. She did not make any sense. She said "what's with everyone attacking William Thibeault".....that man made his own bed, and as far as I am concerned, he can lie in.....and his trash too.

This whole "plan" is what's financially feasible for Thibeault. He doesn't even own the property on lower Broadway....why is this even being discussed???

Can you say.................damage control? That's all that item was about. It was mentioned at the public meeting that we wished the representatives from ward one would be more vocal and whola.......they get together and concoct this "plan."

The residents need to stay on top of this with the DEP and the AG. The way the common council has been acting, I don't trust them at all and I thought Peter Napolitano was very rude, especially about the people in Newbutyport. Even Mayor DeMaria showed more class about the trucks almost hitting the woman. We all know it did not pertain to the issues, but show some class to people that have been suffering.

The administration has been working on this for a couple of weeks, probably longer. Why do they have to be so sneaky? Why didn't they let us know about their plan at the public meeting? It's not so much the plan, if done the way Erin says, I think I could live with it. I just don't trust Billy Boy to comply. I am afraid once he gets his foot in the door down there on 99 we will never get him out. My other fear is he will keep bringing the crap into Boston Street and just keep bringing it down to 99 and rail it out. I can just see it. Also how can Billy Boy bring that crap down to property he doesn't own.

I am also none too pleased with Peter Napolitano. I didn't much care for the way he spoke of the people who attended the public hearing.

Tails, what did you mean by Rose DiFlorio being too personally involved?

Another thing, I think tonight is the first time I have ever agreed with B Cardello, ever.

I'm also going to research MGL to see if she can vote on that issue. I'm sure the solicitor will come up with something to say it's okay, but I'd like to hear from the DEP and State Ethics.
