Was anyone at last week's Ward 5 meeting or catch the replay of it?
I missed the first first half hour or so of one of the replays. For the most part, it was somewhat like the ward meetings from last year. However, from the part that I saw, I believe it is worth watching. First, the mayor gave an update of what they are considering for the old high school; I think that there was also an update on what's going on with the Devens School in the part that I missed. Secondly, RVC's dad got up and spoke. I don't believe I can to justice to what he said; I think it needs to be seen to be believed.

Tetris . . . you've piqued my curiosity. What was the gist of what the elder Van Campen had to say?

I'll try but, as I said, I can't do it justice. The gist of it was to give the mayor a chance and nothing gets done on the city council. He also brought up the possibility of his son running against the mayor. It probably wasn't intended this way, but, to me, it really seemed to shoot down the possibility of RVC running against DeMaria next time.

Robert and Chuck are teaming up against DeMaria the proof was in the alderman's meeting monday nite, give Carlo a chance the city has not look cleaner, the parking lots are clear, you can walk without seeing broken glass everywhere, and today, they were raking the snow.. Keep up the good work Carlo, I am with you

I was told the other day by a close friend of RVC that RVC will be running for Mayor in the next election. I can't confirm it, just sharing what I was told.

Massdee,

If that is the case, then it wouldn't surprise me if RVC has something to say about the Devens School issue on Monday night, especially since that is his ward. I'm not saying that the piece won't pass or even that RVC won't vote for it but I would have to think that there are probably at least a few people that are disappointed with the way that this is going down. The people at the last meeting seemed to be a vocal bunch, which, of course, is their right.

I also think those people in Ward 5 might be a little concerned that the sale of the old High School might go down in the same manner. I stand by my earlier statement, Mayor DeMaria should have had one more meeting with these residents, as he promised, so they were informed before the piece ever went to the CC or BOA. It makes one wonder, if the Mayor is a man of his word.
