tetris, I read that blog and I think, know, you are SOOOOO wrong about this. This City is already showing a HUGE improvement since Carlo took office. You just wait and see... it is only going to get better! |

Just wondering,
For someone who does not like false allegations being made about them, you sure are quick to make them about other people. And Lynda, thanks for jumping on the bandwagon. It's just a website that I happened to run across. I made no indication that I supported what was written on that blog. But what's wrong with making people aware of sites that they might find of interest and letting them make up their minds for themselves? If I find a website that is posting positive things about the mayor, I'll be glad to post that link as well. |

This website may be a little in fun You must be logged in to see this link. but it's reality and if you take the time to read it, Thibeault is not the person the city should be dealing with. He is non-compliant, Newburyport is getting rid of him and we will be stuck with him for campaign favors and this is not right. It's funny too that just last year, The BOA (thanks to Joe McGonagle) amended the zoning ordinance that prohibits any facility like Wood Waste from placing its operation in that area. So now Thibeault goes for a variance and is this the same committee that Carmine DeMaria was conveniently selected for? This city has been going downhill since 2006 but these issues are much worse than the past two years. I say these things not about myself, but for the residents that have suffered in Everett, Chelsea and Newburyport. It's totally sickening to just follow the money that way and not care about people. We have a very materialistic Mayor and I will not forget this next year. Thank goodness these terms are only two years and not four.
I'm sorry….Carmine DeMaria was appointed City Services Commission not the zoning board of appeals but I still stand by the fact that the Mayor said in his inauguration speech that “the days of hiring family and friends are over” |

What does it matter who starts any blog? If Tetris had started that blog he would have said so when he posted the link. I, too, hope the positives are posted along with the negatives.
There are some good things going on in the city, along with the not so good. Our streets are cleaner. I have seen crews cleaning our parks. The mayor had a neighborhood meeting on the Devens School. There is a meeting tonight on the re-use of the old high school. These are all positives.
For me, the big issue is Wood Waste. |

On a different subject. Does anyone know if there has been any progress in hiring a director for our Veterans Service Office? It's getting to be a very long time. |

They have until the end of May. They are getting away with it because they are using the "activly seeking" line. If anyone is hired before the budget, then it would go in this years budget. That's the talk around town. Right now, we are not abiding by the law on this issue but the state is aware and knows the deadlines. For me, this is terrible, it's lack of understanding on the matter and a disregard to our veterans. Just like Zaniboni was such a priority, a new VSO should have been too. There will not be anyone else as compassionate as Walter Rice but the fact that there is no one all this time, is the main issue. Walter helped so many homeless veterans and I cant imagine what's happening to any of them right now. They have no one to talk to, Geri is there part time and state law requires any city or town 12,000.00 or more to have a full time VSO for these reasons and especially our time of war. It was despicable how this administration handled this and is continuing to handle this. |
