Everett Baby, Mom Found Safe 2:32 pm
EVERETT (WBZTV) ¯ State police have found a missing 10-month-old girl after an amber alert was issued earlier Sunday.
Police are still searching for 24-year-old Elton Fonseca, who is suspected of assaulting his 24-year-old girlfriend, Sue Ellen Souza, and then taking off with her and the couple's daughter, Victoria Fonseca.
State police officials said Souza and Victoria were at Everett police headquarters around 2:30 p.m. They are both OK.
State and Everett police say they were very concerned for the welfare of Souza and Victoria. Officials released an Amber Alert because they believed Victoria was in extreme danger.
Police say they were called to 34 Marie Ave. in Everett early Sunday morning on a report of a domestic dispute happening inside a vehicle. Witnesses, who say they know the couple, told police Fonseca was assaulting Souza and she was screaming for someone to call police.
But when police arrived, the car was gone. Witnesses told police the car was a 2000 gray BMW 323i with Massachusetts license plate No. 71SY37. Fonseca may still be traveling in that car.
At one point Sunday morning, a state trooper tried to pull the car over, but the suspect, who was driving, was able to get away.
Police officials said the couple has a history of violence and restraining orders. The baby has been sick for a few days with a fever, police said.
Anyone who spots the car or knows of Fonseca's whereabouts is asked to immediately call 911 or contact Everett police at 617-389-2120.
