I just got the chance to read the letter from the Chief. I appreciated his letter. Chief Mazzie had some really good advice about knowing your neighbors and staying informed.
We have had four stabbing in 2008. Lewis Street, Chelsea Street, County Road and now recently Ferry Street. Three of these stabbings resulted in murder. I don't ever remember this type violence happening in such a short period of time. I don't know if "knifing" is some kind of "thing" with kids today but I think the nature of these crimes needs to be combated. Whether it's educating people, maybe the police can help volunteers that would be willing to speak at all the schools, what ever they can think of.
He was absolutely correct the police cant do it alone, they need our support and help.
Hmmm,,, No mention of gang activity. Guess he is afraid to scare the public? Not sure why they chose to leave out any mention of that. It is a fact the rise in gang activity is a direct correlation to the rise in crime within the community including the recent stabbings. I think the public has a right to know exactly what he is doing to combat the senseless violence caused by these gangs within Everett.
wow the chief is still here and hasn't gone yet, no disrespect but we need police who police our streets and not doing 2pm lunches when the city is falling apart
