He though he had it in the bag.
Last minute it was taken back.
Most of his peers feel he does very little police work.

It was not taken back at the last minute, it was due to the fact that the rank and file were up in arms about Gilligan the boat cop getting promoted when it was not deserved. This guy has done virtually no time on the street hasnt made an arrest in who knows how long and was a complete nightmare during the time he was in the police academy. Let us see him do some time in the trenches on the street and see if he is as qualified as he seems to think he is. PAUL D. DOBBINS |

Very interesting, Paul. It's good to know that all of those appointments were highly qualified. And I hope there's a SURGE in arrests because this place is now crawling with crime. Somebody better do something. |

The appointments of Spinelli, Zielinski, and Panzini were very qualified to be promoted and they should have been promoted and were. The one in which i was referring to was Johnston, the above mentioned Sgt's have done the job and been on the streets im guessing if you add up all their service time it comes to over 30 years. What has Johnston done? Ask around, next time you run into one of the boys in blue ask them what they think of the fact that Johnston was almost promoted to Sgt. PAUL D. DOBBINS |

Any idea why crime is rising up right now? Robberies are an almost every day occurrence. |

Where and when was another stabbing on Elm St? Heard an old Tatoo Estab. was issued a license to re-open. It was closed for at least a year, at the corner of Glendale & Ferry Sts. A lot more to that story we hear. Does anyone know? What is this city coming to? Also heard Everett High Students who are in the Band or Football won't be going to training camps this year. LACK OF FUNDS!! When is Fred's case coming up anyway? Is he using the funds he claims we don't have for his attorney's fees, pay-offs or what. Bet he get away with it all, while trying to play Mayor, along with the everyone else except JH. AND THE BEAT GOES ON.

A LACK OF FUNDS? You have got to be kidding me. The school department got an extra 2 million plus last year...with more expect in net school spending this year. Somebody best start asking some tough questions. And you know if won't be our school committee. |

I heard thru the grape vine that there was a dog without a leash in Glendale Park. What is this city coming to? Will we ever feel safe again? |

Word on the street is that the city health director is incapable of doing her duties....
Under the circumstances, we are not surprised that the tattoo parlor was reissued a license...
The Pup and I feel that there are too many tattoo and piercing places in this city...Can't the city government legislate against them?... There has to be a way....
A friend of the Pup attended a Cambridge Health Alliance meeting discouraging alcohol and substance abuse for young people. The city health director was also there with other participants, and she was the only one who appeared disinterested.
Adult attention deficit disorder????
or just past nap time?....

I happen to catch the alderman meeting last nite where ald. marcus wants to put a picture of Krystal in the hallway with lights that is not a bad idea what struck me funny was that mayor hanlon made a statement that the driver should be put there with a rope around his neck and then in todays paper he comes out and endorses galluccio now I asked this question
Your upset cause a child was killed by an alleged drunk driver but you come out and endorse someone who is going to a hearing for the same thing but no death.. What is wrong with this picture. Can someone answer me that |

All's fair in political back scratching

Everett mayor goes to bat for pol facing OUI charge By Dave Wedge Friday, April 28, 2006 - Updated: 12:03 AM EST
A Cambridge pol headed to court today to face a possible third OUI charge has won political support from the mayor of Everett, who is leading the charge to rename a street after a student killed just days ago by an alleged repeat drunken driver. Everett Mayor John Hanlon, who officially endorsed Anthony Galluccio’s bid for state Senate this week, is pushing to rename a portion of Route 16 “Krystyl’s Way” in honor of Krystyl Poirier, a 16-year-old killed April 8 in a collision with accused drunken driver Robert Getz. Poirier was a passenger in a car with her boyfriend, Chris McFeely, when it was plowed into by a BMW being driven by Getz. Getz, 28, has a prior OUI conviction and is charged with drunken driving and manslaughter for the fatal wreck. In an unrelated case, Galluccio, a 38-year-old Cambridge city councilor and former mayor, was due in Boston Municipal Court this morning to face accusations he was drunk behind the wheel during a 2 a.m. crash in downtown Boston in December. Galluccio was convicted of OUI in 1984 and 1997, but received a pardon on the earlier bust from then-Gov. William F. Weld. Hanlon gave a glowing recommendation to Galluccio during a speech Friday night in Cambridge, saying, “I offer Anthony my full, complete, 100 percent support because I know he truly cares about people,” the Everett Independent reported. Hanlon did not return calls. Galluccio, who is running against Democrat Brian Smith and incumbent Sen. Jarrett Barrios, reportedly told supporters: “When I am elected to the state Senate, I will stand by each of you the way that each of your communities have stood by me during this difficult time.”

Galluccio was cleared today. I hope everyone of the Barrios cabal and his buddies in the media are crying their eyes out. I thought it was a digrace that the Barrios crowd would try to slander John Hanlon too...but that's that crowd - vicious if they don't get their way. |
