It seems to serve no good purpose to run for two office for the voters. It only serves the person running. I, too would not vote for that person for either office. All they are doing is covering their bases and not giving an even playing field for those who may want to run for office. Just more games.

I don't have a problem with someone being in State government and City government. Actually, I think it might be a good thing. A lot of questions that come up at city meetings can be addressed almost immediately. I think "Stat" has been handling holding the two offices quite well. Just my opinion.

I agree with your opinion massdee, Stat has done a good job for us holding the two seats to date.
I also agree that you should NOT be able to run for two seats. Pick one and go with it. You can not be that passionate and dedicated to one if running for another as well.

Just wanted to say that Stat Smith deserves a pat on the back for last nights actions. As well as his daughter who didn't say much but when she did she made a great impact.

I totally agree Lynda. I wish Stephanie would speak more often, she is a smart woman. And her father and Carlo did a great job.

I totally agree, I wish Joe McGonagle gave Carlo and Stat a little more time to get across everything they wanted. I was disapointed at the end when Joe mentioned he hoped the City could work things out with the contractors so it doesn't cost the City millions, hey Joe, what about the employees that were slandered, don't they count. I like Joe and will definitely support him, but I call em like I see em, and Joe didn't speak up for the employees, only for the contractors.

I wonder why that was. If I was the president I would of included everyone not just the contractors

I didn't mean to leave Carlo out, he also did a great job. It was nice to see him speak up and not let the matter at hand go. I honestly thought at one point he was going to be escorted out. (Glad he wasn't) I think they all, our elected city council/alderman officials, did a great job last night. Still don't understand why Hanlon wasn't in that room for the entire meeting. Not to bright on his part.

He frequents every funeral in the state, that is where he was. On such an important night for the city he should have skipped the wake unless it was a family member. JMHO
He had no idea what had gone on all night when he came in. Where were his assistant Mayors, or Vetrano?

I'm sure the Mini Mayor was sitting in her office talking with the City Services non Director, that's where his days are spent. I never met a person that attends so many meetings at City Hall, yet there are never any follow up meetings at City Services to get anything done.

Todays Independent doesn't agree with us on our views of how our elected officials did last night. I thought they did great and then to read the paper and have them basically put them down was unsettling to me.

Lynda, I agree, I don't think the Independent watched the same meeting as the rest of us.

The independent is far from independent. They are up FFF and Hanlon's butt. They do not do any research. I have seen articles in there that were obviously written after reading this message board. The paper is not worth the paper it is printed on.

Stat has been doing a great job. I hope the rumors are true that he is going to run for School Committee.
