I seem to remember those words on campaign literature and a famous billboard...
Well let's review things.....
Is the City better?
The streets are filthy...and the city parking lots as well..
The trash barrels in the square are spilling onto the sidewalk...
Litter in the square blowing throughout..
Entrances to city hall are filthy...litter, old plants dead from last summer...Cigaret butts....Barry clean it up!!
What job exactly does Marchese get paid for?
What job does Rav get paid for?
Torturing the Police Chief and his family for months until making a decision on his contract...
No department head meetings....
Department heads who do not know their jobs...it's been three months...
Brand new department heads requesting raises..and getting what they want...
The city archivist roams the hall all day long...visiting friends and relatives...what the hell does he do? He wasn't necessary for the last eight years!
The roads (including Broadway)are totally FUBAR!!!!
Did anyone get a reverse 911 call regarding the major traffic disruptions in the City? Not me or the Pup..
What the hell happened to Norwood Street? It's carnevale time every day and night....and the filth they leave behind....a shame.
I thought Mr. Hanlon pledged to stop all this and return the city to its legal residents?
The Pup and I needed to express our frustration at the ineffectiveness of the new administration.
The start of something better??

| the streets are filthy because the sweepers are broken I just can't understand why this always happen when street sweeping is suppose to start. Yeah H1 it's the start of something better. |

I am so dissappointed with this new administration.
Can't keep blaming David for everything. They have had three months to repair the sweepers.

| I love you too H1 but it's the truth. Your dissappointed did you catch the alderman's meeting since when does a resident ask the alderman to put a sign up no parking in front of her home or something like that where is this city going backwards that's where. |

In all fairness, I think street sweeping begins April 1. The city does look like hell though.
I did hear that Ravs works for the mayor's office. I've heard about a number of raises and new positions. Do you think there will be a problem because supplemental appropriations haven't been submitted for all these new people?
CHAPTER 44. MUNICIPAL FINANCE
BUDGET IN CITIES
Chapter 44: Section 33A. Salary provisions in budget; requirements and limitations
Section 33A. The annual budget shall include sums sufficient to pay the salaries of officers and employees fixed by law or by ordinance. Notwithstanding any contrary provision of any city charter, no ordinance providing for an increase in the salaries or wages of municipal officers or employees shall be enacted except by a two thirds vote of the city council, nor unless it is to be operative for more than three months during the calendar year in which it is passed. No new position shall be created or increase in rate made by ordinance, vote or appointment during the financial year subsequent to the submission of the annual budget unless provision therefor has been made by means of a supplemental appropriation. No ordinance, vote or appointment creating a new position in any year in which a municipal election is held shall be valid and effective unless said ordinance, vote or appointment is operative for more than three months during said municipal election year.

This administration seems to have no issues with the usual formalities...
Many new hires have not signed add/change forms....
How are they getting paid?
Thank you Court for your research....
We know Rav works in the Mayor's office...But what exactly does he get paid for?
What is his position? and where hell has he and MArchese been?
The Pup and I need to know ...
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN THIS CITY?....

Well, before anyone can be appointed, according to state law, there must be a supplemental appropriation in place. "No new position shall be created or increase in rate made by ordinance, vote or appointment during the financial year subsequent to the submission of the annual budget unless provision therefor has been made by means of a supplemental appropriation."
I wonder how Mr. Law and Order is going to explain this away, over and over again for the numerous positions that have been created since the last budget cycle? I mean, the man is on a roll! |

| Frick and Frack (Ravenisi and Marchese), read the paper and act like pompous asses when Hanlon cant make it to events. Hey guys its a tough job somebody has to do it. Also, why are there about 9 people working in the Mayor's office. Im glad to see my tax dollars are going to people reading the paper or not knowing what theyre supposed to do. Well, at least its the start of something better. And the BOH director resigned. Deb O'neil is the acting dept head until Hanlon can find another dinosaur to replace her. |

The roads are in a terrible mess numerous potholes not getting fixed.

almost six months....

apparently it's not John Hanlon.....
PS...... Ravanesi is getting $45 dollars an hour as a consultant!
A consultant do do what??

| Hey Emile Rav gets paid that money to talk when Johnny is to stressed or sick and cant speak at events and Mikey gets paid to read the paper. You think those things are easy? Why don’t you try them before you complain that our tax dollars are being wasted. HAHA. Just kidding with ya. But isn’t it sad though? This is what they get paid to do. That’s their JOB! |

Hmmmm. . . a $45/hr consultant? I do believe that a consultant position is subject to the bidding laws. Was this position put out to bid? Who were three bids received? That would be interesting information to obtain, dontcha think?
Are we finally discovering that the Hanlon administration is just as bad, if not worse, than we ever thought the Ragucci administration was?
Honesty and integrity . . . perhaps Hanlon practices those values in some parallel universe, because he sure as hell isn't practicing them here. |

I sent my family to the airport on Monday by way of the Everett Taxi or whatever they call themselves nowadays...I requested a wagon or van as there was a lot of luggage and three people...When the jalope pulled up to my house I was embarassed...It was an old beach wagon with the left rear quarter completely smashed in...the whole thing was a total mess and the left rear tire was half flat...the back of the cab where he put the luggage was broken as well...I called the cab company and asked to speak to a manager...She stated that the wagon was due to go into the body shop instead of the scrap yard...
I phoned the Mayor's office and asked to speak to the mayor...I got a secretary who tried to do damage control for hiz honor...I asked how these cabs were allowed to operate in our city and asked that the mayor call me back...That was Monday and I'm still waiting... |

Satisfaction . . . call your Councilmen and Aldermen. I'm afraid you'll get nowhere with the Mayor's office. His alleged "open door policy" closed down before he even took the oath of office.
We should all start sending letters to the editor to the newspapers and see if they'll print them. The "Independent" is always claiming they have no allegience to any elected official. If we start inundating them with letters, eventually they're going to have to start printing at least some of them. The editor certainly has no problem writing glowing editorial spots for the Mayor . . . let's see if he really believes in "equal time." |

You won't get anywhere with many of the councilors or aldermen. Lester contributes to too many of those campaigns.
The letters to the newspapers isn't a bad idea. Perhaps we can create a defacto editorial page that actually resembles an real editorial page instead of a cheering section?

Dave Ravanesi stands in for the Mayor at a business opening....
The Mayor couldn't make it.....
Dave looks very happy.
I can't blame him...
The Pup would be smiling for $45 bucks an hour.

| I can't wait till Rav screws over Hanlon in some way, shape, or form. I mean he screwed McCarthy, he screwed Ragucci, and, if Hanlon's meds last him the term, Rav will probably screw him too. Pattern anyone? I love his suites though and all the gold on him. Everytime I see him I feel like I'm looking at a don from the 1950's. I think that’s the only thing I like about Rav: He can dress AND play the part of a thief. Well, actually when he screws Hanlon big and Hanlon wont run again it will be....THE START OF SOMETHING BETTER! |
