I saw Barry Doyle headed home tonight in the City vehicle he drives.
Why are we providing a vehicle, and gas, for this man to go to and from work? A vehicle to use while he's on the job is one thing, but to get here? I don't think so................

Since your talking about tax dollars ... How about all the kids who got jobs this summer paid for with our tax dollars. I have spoke to a few of them and it seems they have absolutely nothing to do and one of them sleeps all day at the job site. I am not going to say where he is working since it is not the kids fault the city department has nothing for him to do. What a waste of money.

Yeah, I've heard about it too. And then we have the mayor boasting about his summer jobs program...in which he spent $60K and got nothing for it. Like the parks don't need cleaning and painting? |

Wasn't there recently a group of volunteers who went around helping to remove grafitti from various buildings throughout the city. Isn't this something that these kids could've been doing -- given that they're getting paid for the summer? How about giving them a broom and letting them sweep up the streets and pick up the trash in Glendale and Everett Square?
There are plenty of things that these kids could be doing -- it's just that we have an administration that lacks imagination and follow through. I agree, Sally, it's not the kids' fault . . . it's the fault of an administration that is selectively fulfilling campaign promises to benefit their pals and ignorning campaign promises that would've been of some benefit to the city at large. |

I have to agree with you all out here and barry doyle taking his city vehicle home let's see wasn't it in the ragucci administration that people were taking vehicles home and it was brought up by alderman van campen ( I mean our next mayor) who put a stop to that.. Gee my memory his re-calling this |

Barry Doyle is making sure that all his employees are doing there jobs he is on call 24/7 he is in charge of all 13 buildings in this city, everybody you talk to will tell you he hasn't stopped since he's been put on the payroll he is the first one in and the last one out. So ya let's go after him for using city gas to do city work! Not the guy's that fill the portable gas tanks for the lawn mowers and then fill there private cars or the ones that fill there personal cars! Yes lets go after the only appointee of this administration that is actually doing what he gets paid for! GIVE US A BREAK! |

Easy Joey, Justme stated that she saw Barry Doyle heading HOME, which means he was using his city car on non-city business. By rights, the car should be parked on city property every night, and he should be using his own car to go home - unless he lives in the city. Does anyone know where he lives?
As you know, Joey, this was raised as an issue during the Ragucci administration, which means that it should still be an issue? Or is it okay as long as it's a Hanlon appointee? And who are these guys that fill portable gas tanks for the mowers and fill their car instead? I hope the city council asks these questions. |

Eyeontheball, No it's not okay that's definitely not what I meant, what I mean is with all the waste and freeloading going on in this administration (counting all the unjustified pay raises and appointments)I can't understand why they would pick on a guy who is on call 24/7 which means he has to drive from wherever he lives to respond to the call, instead of going after those who are really stealing from our tax dollars. And as for the council asking the questions you have a better chance of hitting the lottery! |

I understand Barry Doyle is doing a very good job. What has that got to do with him using a City vehicle to drive to and from work? That perk is costing a lot of additional dollars At least they were upfront about the (unjustified) raises.........
BTW, he lives in Lynnfield. |

I did see the Ravanesi upgrade in the paper, Louie. While his flaws are legion - he did have a permit pulled. I guess Little Davie's feel "flush" these days. |
