Funny, when was going into the red with the city's budget the start of something better? We're in the red and are in big trouble. We are in debt into the millions. Can we kiss that reserve money of 4-5 million dollars that Mayor Ragucci was responsible for goodbye?

Don't be surprised if the budget meeting isn't televised this year. Call your aldermen and councilmen and DEMAND it is and lets all make sure they ask the right questions. Like, why are we in debt? Are why does the Mayor's Office have 34 people in it, when other departments actually need people? Just to name a few. VERY FEW. |

I think I know why Hanlon did what he did with the DA and the council and aldermen. Under the Hanlon administration, the budget has gone to hell. We're 7-9 million in the red and Johnny Boy needs cash quick. The company that he wanted was going to give that to him: quick cash. Now that, that deal, has gone to hell he doesn't know what to do.

Make no mistake about it - Johnny boy needs the cash...but the city isn't in the red yet. Yet. There are funds in reserve accounts. A million of the 5.4 million went into it last year. Now...when they start tapping that - we're in trouble, and the bond rating will start tumbling.
Where the hell is the mayor? This is John's first budget cycle and he's not here for it? |

Unfortunately, the people got what they voted for. We're in big trouble. |

Court, I heard that Hanlon had tapped into those reserve accounts. I called the budget dept. but no one answered. I was wondering if you know if they have or haven't tapped into the reserves for sure? I trust people on this site more than I do the Mayor.
Also, when was the budget meeting on a saturday at 8 in the morning in the past?

Genuine; you are entitled, and I repeat, entitled to public information about the budget. You have 2 options; you can contact either the BOA or CC finance chair or... call Don Andrew's office and ask for what you want: balance sheet, list of transfers, etc. It's public information and don't let him bully you out of it. If he needs a freedom of information act letter, you can send him one - which gives him ten days to respond.
The city council has had Saturday morning meetings in the past. It started in the last few years. |
