If true, then how did they get passed the residency law that went into effect 1/1/2012 for police and fire?

Mille Cardello said last night that the new officer was hired before the effective date of that ordinance and was waiting for his training class.

I see there's a budget joint convention at 6:30, right before the alderman's regular meeting. That's not giving a lot of time for a presentation and questions. Prior joint conventions are 45 minutes or longer. |

I believe that all that will be accomplshed at this joint convention will be the distribution of the budget to the members, the setting up of times for budget hearings and the setting of the ground rules for the hearings. At least that's the way that it has gone down in prior years.
Why do we think that there's more to the agenda? New Business is usually the last section of the agenda and there's more items under it than there has ben lately? |

Well, I guess that the Leader-Herald can't report that there was no public participation this week. The licensing meeting in two weeks ought to be interesting. |

I agree. What an interesting public comment. Finally.
Wonder who is circulating letters around about Joe Marchese's property that could not send him a copy to defend himself.
The real interesting comment was about all his abutters (who conveniently all get together when the license is supposed to be approved)....... and not before hand....all partake in an abatement process with the city. What does that mean?
Does that mean all those properties on Terminal Street get abatements....except for Marchese's? I have a problem when people only complain when the license is supposed to be renewed (all for TV) and the building department goes down the same day (yesterday) saying they are in violation. You would think Carlo would be a little less apparent. |

OMG! Didn't see that coming! 2007's calling and it wants it's all night budget session back! That's what I get for watching the re-run rather than the original airing.
But really? What are the chances of the Common Council sustaining these additional cuts? And where does the city council go with the budget if they don't? I think that under the new charter, the proposed budget will go into effect on July 1 as it was initially proposed if the city council can't agree on a course of action, but I'll have to check that. Once my head stop spinning and I get some rest. |

I was able to catch the re-run before bed and all I can say is wowzas! I don't know where to begin. Not a surprise that Joe McGonagle didn't show up to any budget hearings again and then speaks out against the budget. What about all those cuts that Mille Cardello and her "consultant" came up with? Notice she didn't bother going to the car to get it? At least Chuck Diperri called Joe to the carpet about not showing up.
Way to much else to touch upon! |
