While the idea behind what the BOA did last night is good, I think the reality is that they're wasting time. The state probably won't act fast enough & if they do, it will be to refer them back to Colleen.
Bottom line, Carlo's budget is the one we'll be stuck with for FY13 because most of our elected officials are either idiots or they owe the mayor for the jobs he's given their family. |

Amen!
At least Mr. Burley spoke the truth and admitted he was not given proper information. Why have rules if you are not going to follow them?
I can understand "why" the city solicitor did what she did....but she is not Carlo's personal attorney.... she works for the City of Everett! She's knows damn well she was lying through her teeth, and she should have spoken the truth. So, in my opinion, she played a part in municipal corruption. |

I actually applaud the BOA for abiding by their rules. At this point, the $250K would not make much of a difference in the overall scheme of things. The CC should of had no further discussion on the budget once reconsideration failed. The rules are the rules and I believe the City Solicitor was mistaken in her opinion. I think any of us who watch these meetings on a regular basis knew the CC had made a major gaff.
I, for one , am glad that the state will be made aware of the flawed process, even if the AG defers to the City Solicitor's opinion. The next step will be to see if the State will accept the budget, since it was obtained through a flawed process.
In my opinion, the BOA would have been remiss in their duties if they hadn't taken the action they did at last nights meeting. The CC needs to learn there are consequences to their unprofessional actions.
I hope when the 2013 elections are upon us, the voters will remember which members voted against the taxpayers and for the administration.
I'll tell you, most on the common council will not get elected to the new board. People I speak with think the young guns are spoiled - cry baby - brats. That was proven last common council meeting. The common council is nothing but a no-show job anyway. |

Tails, what about the old guns who are so busy taking care of themselves & their families that they've forgotten (or don't care) about the people they're supposed to be representing? From where I sit, there are only a few of the current group (BOA & CC) that should run & I'd really like to see new names on the ballot. |

On the BOA, I am not aware of any immediate family members working for the city at the present time. I could be wrong though.I know at one time an Alderman had a spouse working for the schools, but I believe this person no longer works for the School Department.
CC, Ward 1: I believe none. Ward 2: I believe Jason Marcus's girlfriend and her son both work for the city under ECTV. Ward 3: Rodrigues's wife is the Mayor's Chief of Staff and his mother-in-law works in the Board of Health. Dell Issolla, don't know if his uncle still works for the city or not. Ward 4: I really don't know. Ward 5: DiFlorio, her husband and son both work for the city. Ward 6: I believe none.
Anyone please feel free to correct me if I left anything out or am incorrect at all. |

2b) newer hydrant on Bow St area of side walk not paved but stoned;
2c) Bollard located on the corner of Bow and Beacham (east side) leaning, obviously hit by a truck...question, what is the possibility of putting a guard rail or cement barriers on that corner? 2 & 17 - Anybody heard whether or not the AG's has issued an opinion on this?
12 - Whether you agree with this or not, it sure seems the administration has waited until the last minute to get this approved by the city and the state in order for it to be implemented this upcoming tax year. |

Budget accepted 6-1 as it appears on the agenda. Of course, the AG decline to offer an opinion on the local controversey. At least Chuck DiPerri had the the stones to have the letter from the AG's office to be read. A stark contrast from item 14. If you didn't read the agenda, you never know that there were raises being proposed. |

Can someone please tell me how I can get a “Do not block driveway” sign? I live on Main St. and need one. I see Cynthia Sarnie recently had one put on a city poll on a city sidewalk in front of her house. I’d like the same courtesy. Didn’t Anthony Raneiri get fired from city services for doing the same exact thing? Why does she get special treatment? |

City ordinance is clear on it. If the sign is not on her property then it's an illegal sign and should be removed by the building inspector. |
