I don't think this is going to work out (just my opinion)

1. Is there still street sweeping on a friday? and if so city hall has to be open.

2. visitors passes how would one get one? at least you know if someone is coming on a friday and you have time to get one before they closed. and if this is the case will there be tagging on a sunday night if you can't get a visitors pass?

3. what happens to code enforcement if no working on a friday, so now people can get away with doing stuff over the weekends.

4. what happens if a plumber needs to pull a permit for an emergency?

5. Does the whole city shut down, city services, police personal, fire personal or is just city hall, and if they have to come to work will it cost overtime for us taxpayers

To many questions I am not in favor of this.

I wonder how the unions will feel about this....

There are definitely some things that will need to be worked out but it's too soon to say it won't work. Scamore has raised some valid questions but until we know what the answers are, how can we know it won't work?

I remember when David Ragucci changed City Hall hours years ago. There were a lot of people who said it wouldn't work, but it has. This may too........

My guess is that the unions wouldn't have too much of a problem with this. A four day work week with half-an-hour less work per week with likely no cut in salaries and benefits. Can't see that being much of a problem overall for them.

To me, this would seem to come down to some potential minor savings (heating, cooling, cleaning, etc.) vs. some loss in taxpayer convenience (how many people need to or are actually able to take advantage of the three and half hours that city hall is presently open on Fridays?). Maybe there's more to it than that but without an official statement on it (the city does have a web site, doesn't it?), how are we supposed to know?

IMHO, if there is not a major cost savings to be realized by a move like this, I can't really support it. I just see it as another loss for the taxpayers.

I would be in favor of this if it was summer months only. If it goes any further than that… then it sound to me like it’s just another employee perk and service cutbacks to the residents. Who would not want a 3-day weekend??

It cant be going over to well because if it was favorable, I’m sure we would have all received multiple reverse 911 calls, and it would have been plastered in the papers. I’m not in favor of all the reverse 911 calls we get, but this is one that should have gone out…trial period or not.

What ever the reason for this is…those employees work for the public, and city hall is a “customer service operation” and this is a cut in public service.

Bottom line is our population is increasing and any energy savings proposal would be minimal. There are so many other ways to help out with energy savings that employees can do on a daily basis instead of cutting back services to the residents. I know if I need to take care of things, I always go on a Friday and know others who frequent on Fridays.

We just came down Broadway & I noticed a couple of people walking up the stairs to the old High School & the front door was open. Does anyone know why?

It's a Mosque. No idea of the details..... i.e. if they rent the property or whatever. I have nothing against any type of prayer service, but these Churches and Mosque's that are appearing in every corner of the city have services all hours of the night. And...if they own the property, they do not pay taxes. Not a good choice for the neighborhood I'm sure...OR the old High School.

Ramadan Isha Prayers Schedule
July 20 - July 29 > 1 pm 548 Broadway Everett, Ma
July 30 - Aug 8 > 9:45 pm 548 Broadway Everett, Ma
Aug 9 - Auh 20 > 9:30 pm 548 Broadway Everett, Ma
Tarawih prayers will follow right after Isha
