Kudos to Carlo! At least he does not worry about hurting peoples feelings, he cares about the citizens of this community. I hope it is placed on the calendar and questions are answered.

Sally, with all due respect, yes, I agree that these types of situations need to be brought to light, particularly given Mr. Honesty & Integrity's past admonitions of the previous administration for what he claimed to be bidding irregularities; however, let's not paint Alderman DiMaria as some knight in shining armor. The fact that his uncle's company was one of the submitted bids makes his "concern" suspect.

Having said that . . . I agree that this should not be the end of the issue. This is jsut the kind of questionable behavior that Hanlon claims to be above. He's letting the inmates run the asylum up there; they just keep feeding him pablum and sending him on his way to whatever convention or seminar of the week is on his schedule

Since when does the City Solicitor's office adjudicate on Parliamentary Procedure? That's Nuzzo's job, and he's allowed to confer with the clerk. It does not rest with the Executive branch. This is all about control, and this city better wake up. There's "something rotten in Denmark," about this bidding irregularity, as the bard would say.

Whether or not this is De Maria's family member does not matter. If the bidding process went as De Maria says than that is bid rigging plain and simple. Did you see Ms. Vertrano looking into the audience for approval from someone everytime she opened her mouth. She looked panicked. If she had nothing to hide she would have told Nuzzo that she would be glad to answer the questions. If you have nothing to hide what would you be running from? These people take us all for a bunch of poor, uneducated people. Remember the quotes in the globe. After all "football is all we have." Well you have a rude awakening coming because all of us hard working, educated, people who could give a rats ass about football are the taxpayers in this city. Do your job or get out!!!!!

I don't get it, why, when there seems to be something blatantly wrong, that only one or two of our elected officials question it? What is wrong with the rest of them? Do they not understand how foolish they look to the TV audience? Do they not know that a vast number of voters watch those meetings? They are perceived as a bunch of bafoons. People are not blind or deaf, they know how to read between the lines. It will be interesting to see who steps up to the plate and gets this issue resolved.

Because we allow them to get away with it. If their answering machines were full 24/7 they may actually do something for us. It also seems that everytime one of them stands up for us they are torn apart in the papers and on blogs and message boards. Mc Gonagle and De Maria are always trashed and they are the only two with guts enough to do their jobs.

Not to mention what they did to Smith because he dared to stand up to the Superintendent.

Then it seems like Mc Gonagle is starting to lead the pack for a mayoral run.

Replacing the Mayor is definitely necessary, but it's only the beginning. We also need to get rid of the idiots on the common council & board of alderman. We need people with the time & interest to research what's coming before them for a vote before they vote, not after. People who care about the city, not the check, benefits, or pension. People with brains who are willing to stand up and fight for what's right instead of going along with the crowd and worrying about re-election.

Let's face it, we (pretty much) need a clean sweep.

There are a couple on both boards that I wouldn't mind keeping. I wouldn't mind seeing the rest gone, and I don't even want to get started on the School Committee. No one worth saving there.

Did the issues of paying the fools on the school committee come up lately? I want to see if anyone is going to oppose that. It is like paying the rats to come into our homes.

Yes, there are a couple worth keeping. Unfortunately, the keepers are not the majority.

Sally, Josh Resnek had an editorial in the Independent a couple of weeks ago suggesting that the School Committee should be paid. I would say . . . not unless we get a whole new board, and not unless they're willing to put FFF where he belongs, as the clerk of the School Committee instead of acting like the Chair and Puppeteer that he is.

How Josh Resnik got to write for a newspaper is beyond me. He also mentioned FFF being acquitted of all charges this past week. People who are acquitted are not required to pay fines.

That's right . . . wasn't that just ridiculous? Victory over darkness. Isn't that what he called it. I agree with you . . . not only did he get to write for a newspaper, he's the editor of the paper! Makes you wonder what the owners of the paper are thinking. But, as Deep Throat told Bob Woodward, follow the money. All three of our local papers will go where the money leads them.
