Well it seesm today the teachers were informed on how to present an emergency plan to the students in case there were a shooting going on in the school. This is a result of an incident that happened this week. Seems at least three possibly five people entered the school looking for someone and they were found to have guns on them. Nice huh? So parents keep sitting back and doing nothing until one of our kids is killed. They cannot lock all of the doors because they would also be locked from the inside. Well FFF CHANGE THE DOORS!!!!!! Because the cost of new doors is a lot less than the cost of one childs life, or the lawsuits that will be filed in a milisecond if something happens to someones child. I am sick to my stomach right now and I want my kids out of that school. I am so sick of the parents NEVER being informed of important things. FFF thinks we are all idiots, and if nothing is said or done about this than he just might be correct! Allegedly there was a girl arrested in school today not related to that incident. What the heck will it take to keep our kids safe?????

Sorry EverettsPride. I didn't see the full topic until after I wrote. This was at the High School. I thought there were cops on every floor to prevent this crap from entering. I know there were 2 fire drills at the beginning of the week, is this how they got in? Or were these children from OUR own school? Please tell me more. I too have a child at the High School. |

No , they were not kids from the school that is what is scary. The fire alarms were pulled by students. I heard they got one of the kids who pulled the alarm. We never find out anything from the administration, only from our kids. Pretty sad! But a good thing for lawyers looking for law suits.

I bet there is a connection between these fire alarm pullings and the other kids getting in. Isn't it the schools responsibility to inform us parents of this stuff? |

No there is no connection between the alarms. The kid responsible for the alarm was caught. The doors in the high school are never locked. No need to sneak people in when they can just walk in at any time. One of my children was told if a shooting happens to pull the shades and sit against the blackboard on the floor. I told her to hop out the window and run! Nice that we have to teach them these things. All we have to do is spend some money on new doors that lock like at all the other schools. With the high school closing next year I am sure FFF has better things to spend the money on. Our kids lives are not that important apparently.

I have two 10th graders here in the house and I just sat down and talked to both of them. They knew nothing about this gun situation and said that they have not been spoken to on how to react in the situation. I told them what you said, jump out the window, they did however tell me that someone got arrested today at second lunch. But, they didn't know why. |

The meeting was with the teachers and they were asked to have a talk with the kids about what to do in a situation with a gun. They left it up to the teachers as to how to present it or not to the kids.

Sally wouldn't you agree that these type's of gun conversations are valid and should have been done a long time ago. With all the gun incidents in more affluent communities the schools should be prepared. |

Yes, but they waited until there was an incident and they are doing NOTHING to secure the doors. Lynda I have a sophmore and a senior at the high school.

From "The Mirror"
" was this everett high thing related to the steve at city hall thing? they seemed to happen on or aroung the same time? concerned | 01.12.07 - 4:46 pm | #
You are a idiot! anonymous | 01.12.07 - 5:07 pm | #
Do arrests of minors appear in the police logs? If so, and there was someone arrested at the high school, it should be in the police log, shouldn't it? anonymous | 01.12.07 - 5:18 pm | #
Only if they are 17. Under 17 they cannot print their names. Even if they were 17 or older there would be nothing released because FFF makes sure of it. Wouldn't want the parents of the kids knowing what really goes on at Everett High. My kid was in tears today after hearing how to hide from a gunman in her classroom. Are you kidding me????????? Cathy | 01.12.07 - 5:55 pm | #
There was also a girl arrested at lunch today at Everett High. Lets see if that makes the paper. I would bet my house it will not. Cathy | 01.12.07 - 5:56 pm | #
I did see a police officer on a motorcycle sitting in the side driveway between the high school and the Masons building. I'm not sure why he wasn't sitting at the corner of Broadway and Maplewood, but I suppose we should just be happy that there was a cop there.
It's scary, that's for sure. anonymous | 01.12.07 - 5:59 pm | #
who's an idiot? his gun is lost and i want to know if it was found in relation to the high school thing? someone has it so excuse me for wanting to know if the two things were related. i have a kid up there too. concerned | 01.12.07 - 6:57 pm | #
From what I hear the people who got into the school were from Dorchester. Please parents call the school or FFF and get some answers. They need to spend some money on new doors I do not care if the school is closing. Someone is going to get killed up there". Harry | 01.12.07 - 7:15 pm | #
