I guess it's not a huge leap, when you think about it. But it's frightening . . . I mean, what's happening with our children. I mean "our" in the universal sense. |

This whole situation appears to geting out of control.
Has the missing handgun been recovered?
I don't know.

My daughter told me today that she heard that there was a shooting last night at Pope John. I havn't heard anything more about this except for what she told me and all that she knew was that a friend of hers called her and told her of the shooting. |

I'm a high school teacher in Dorchester at one of the more dangerous schools (according to the Herald we are #4) and we, naturally, are all aware of the danger our students face, even though the students themselves act either cynically or apathetically in the face of the threats. It looks like Everett High may begin to go through the same culture of fear that grips Boston's schools.
A strong, decisive response from law enforcement over the next week or so, securing doors, and emergency interventions by parents and teachers with troubled students are all necessary now.
Unfortunately, fear in the Boston schools breeds gang activity (for protection) as well as the unfounded beleif by many students that they have more chance of dying by the age of 21 than not, so they might as well get rich or die trying.
Our local schools had better get a handle on this over the long term because it sure looks like youth criminal activity is becoming more and more profitable around here.
I am an average resident of Everett who would like to see more communication about anything and everything to do with Everett |

Wow, I admire your courage for going into that school everyday. I hope something is done ASAP in Everett. I am really afraid for all of my kids, and everyones kids. We need to take a stand and let FFF know we are not going to take no for an answer.

Well an Everett high football player and his girlfriend were jumped by a gang near Hancock Street this weekend. The bloodied kid and his girlfriend were seen by a group of friends driving by and they picked them up and took them home. No word on whether or not they reported the incident. What is to stop them from going to the high school and doing something? They were not from that gang on Ferry Street either they were MS13.

I just got the full story. There were two cheerleaders and one football player. A car drove by and said something to the girls and the girls flipped them off. The car stopped and the guys in the car beat the crap out of the girls and when the boyfriend tried to stop them they beat him too. Both of these girls no longer live in Everett which makes me wonder why their parents would allow them to stay in Everett High, and to be walking around in Everett late at night. I am not blaming the kids or the parents but if I could get my kids out of here I would never let them come back!

How are these TWO girls going to Everett High and on the Cheerleaders Squad if they are not residence? Do we have open enrollment at Everett High? I honestly do not know this answer? |

Everett does not have out of city enrollment, if they live out of city there is suppose to be a tuition and only allowed to attend EHS if there is room. |

So another thing not enforced in Everett is what you are telling me. It appears to me that there would not be any room. |

The schools are overcrowded and the new high school will be worse. There are probably a hundred kids in the high school who do not live in Everett. All of the taxpayers let it happen.

Your right Sally. I am just as guilty! I live in Everett, don't get me wrong but, I know of at least a half dozen kids that are there that are not residence. WHY they are there when they live in MUCH nicer neighborhoods, with very good schools, I don't know. |
