I am not sure of the turn of events surrounding the disgraced former mayor of Chelsea who is also a convicted felon and his apparently new relationship with the administration....
He wouldn't suddenly jump in bed with FFF without good reason.
It has to be more than just the money.

| Mitchell wants everyone in the city to believe they live in a wonderful city with no crime that aint so. He needs a scanner like we all have, and if you go to city hall all departments have one too.. Good for the independent for reporting the crimes in Everett I am tied of buying the Malden paper to see what is going on in this city |

I agree! I emailed the Independent to tell them how happy I was to read some news. Maybe we all should let them know we enjoy reading the truth.

| I tend to differ with some of the above comments , what ever Mitchell's past is just that, in the past, we presently have people in federal, state, and OUR OWN LOCAL GOVERMENT who continue dailey to do a lot worse.And the big picture is we all know this and as VOTERS simply do nothing to make a postive change.Im not saying i admire Mr Mitchell , but i do respect him. As for rporting the local news, we really don't have a local paper that is not afraid to report everything considering they are threatend with no paid ads, again just my own personal thoughts.. |

I must have been mistaken, I thought Mitchell printed an article trivializing some rather dangerous incidents at Everett High.
Mitchell has had a history of challeging the present administration, which I can appreciate.
I thought that suddenly, he was in bed with Fred.....
What's happening at Pity Hall is significantly more nefarious that Mitchell's past indescretions.
Mitchell just got caught, Pity Hall has not, yet....

NSS . . . you respect Jim Mitchell? May I ask why? Certainly you have a right to respect and admire whomever you choose; I'm just curious upon what you base this respect. I agree . . . his past is his past, and he paid a price for his behavior, but I don't believe it was a life changing experience for him.
I, too, am happy that Mitchell challenges the administration; however, he also lets his paper be used by a certain influential person to denigrate and eviscerate this person's enemies. |

NSS - I finally managed to get a copy of the Advocate, which appears to be delivered in a very few places these days. I can't imagine why you can respect Mr. Mitchell when he uses his newspaper as a front for Fred Foresteire. That whole "editorial" was not written by Mitchell, it was written by Fred or his "publicist" - John Dowd. It trivializes serious issues in this city while denigrating Augie Parziale, one of the few reporters around here who tries to be fair. I don't respect this at all.
By the way, I couldn't decide if NSS was was initials for "no-sh**-Sherlock" or "Net School Spending." Please enlighten us. |
