Can anyone remember a worse job of plowing and sanding in Everett ?
Was a snow emergency ever declared to stop cars from parking so snow could be removed.
When you leave Everett and go to Saugus,Revere or Malden the streets are much better in those cities !
What up with that ?

I agree this was absolutely the worst snow removal job I can remember. It looks to me that there was no salt or sand on any of the streets. I know there was none on my street. There also was no snow emergency parking ban put on. Makes no sense to me. |

I do not remeber a stow emergency being called. I doubt it was for the main streets are terrible from cars being parked during the storm. I know this was a tough storm because the change from snow to rain and then hte deep freeze but with that there was still plenty of room for a better job. |

LOL . . . I saw part of the meeting; I have to admit, it was painful to watch, although I don't think I felt bad for Mr. Sheehan. I mean . . . there really was no explanation and no excuse for not calling a snow emergency when the track of the storm was pretty clear. His excuse that snow emergencies have been called in the past and the storms have turned out to be nothing is hardly an explanation. I know it's an inconvenience to a lot of people when a snow emergency is call, but . . . better safe than sorry.
I was actually glad to see that some of the members of the Council were putting the pressure on. This was a true public safety issue, and the administration needs to answer for the various failings of judgement. |

I also only saw a little of the meeting last night. I thought Mr Sheehan was rude and nasty with some of his answers to the Council. He came across as very disrespectful. The Council had a legitimate concern, it was a public safety issue. |

I thought the same thing, massdee. He had a face on him like "you guys have a nerve even questioning me" and his answers were . . . well . . . incomplete at best.

Sheehan will be out on the streets that did not get plowed looking for work next year after the elections.
There must be a job for an unemployed custodian somewhere.

The same cast of characters will be starring in our aldermen’s meeting as well. Look for some of the same questions and grandstanding. This is where bicameral does not make sense. The aldermen are going to exercise the same dog and pony for the camera’s. |

I just watched the re run of the council meeting where Jerry Sheehan appeared. I was prepared to watch him act like an arrogant jerk and instead was not surprised to see that Billy Cardillo was the only arrogant jerk at the meeting. Jerry answered the questions that were asked. It was a horrible storm and I saw first hand how any efforts to salt and sand were washed away by the rain. And I am saying this as a resident of one of those streets that was not sanded until late on Thursday. I used two big bags of salt outside of our house and it was all washed away. My husband and my daughters boyfriend both fell flat on their backs at different times after the storm. If Mr. Sheehan had called in every available contractor at the perfect hour, and had declared a snow emergency before the evening news, people would be compaining about what a waste of our tax dollars that was. He was in a no win situation. What he said about them plowing water was the truth. Billy Cardillo was telling tales about how he was out all night working in Somerville, Chelsea, Everett and Malden during the night and their streets were clear. Then he went on to say that he left for work at 5:30 am, which one was it Billy? Billy came out in attack mode because his friends the contractors are upset that they lost a day of plowing. A truck on every individual street that night would not have stopped the ice from forming or the chemical from being washed away. I think he made a good call.

Sally- do you know Mr. Sheehan personally? I think I recall that you've mentioned this in the past? I also note that you've posted the same post in multiple places on both blogs. This kind of has the same defense that was employed during another scandal that shall not be named. |

There's no "rule" - it's just a little obvious when you post the same thing over and over again. |

I copied and pasted my reply in two different subjects here because they were both talking about the same issue. I was too lazy to type a reply more than once. I was just stating that after hearing all the comments about Sheehan's attitude, I was surprised to see for myself that Billy C. seemed to me to be the only one with an attitude. Thats all.
