I was told at one time that they don't accept checks for the program because of the amount of the fee, and if a check were to bounce, by the time they discovered the check was no good, the service would've already taken place, and it would be very difficult to recover the money.
I'm not sure where the money goes. I mean, it goes into the city treasury, but I'm not sure if it gets earmarked for a particular department, like code enforcement or city services. |

It would make sense to me if they would earmark the money collected, to go towards reducing the amount that is budgeted for trash removal. |

They mentioned the other night that they collected $25,000 this year and 50,000 was written into the disposal contract (same people who take our trash) to remove white goods.

I am reading the Independent, when did the "White Goods" sticker go up to $45.00? I thought it was $15.00, that's what I paid the last time I used it, but it's been a while. |

The did recently pass a number of fee increases. Perhaps this was one of them. |

I was planning on attending the Admin meeting last night and ended up with unexpected company. Was anyone able to attend? I really wanted to go. Does anyone know how it went? Not that I don't already know in my own mind. |

Didn't go. What I heard was:
Yes vote to pay school committee (not retroactive)
Raise for Carolyn McCory (sp) & Mike Matarazzo (sp). Also another raise approved, can't remember who.

Great, lets spend some more money. The other raise was probably Burley. |

I heard the voted to recommend paying the school committee at $5500/year, with no health benefits; pay increase for clerk of the common council, clerk of the BOA, Caroline McCorry and John Burley.
It now comes back out to the Common Council for a vote, I think. |
