Very happy to see that Carlo DiMaria has decided to run for the Mayors seat. I think that we could use his youth and intelligence in the corner office.

Lynda, just my opinion, but I think the general election could could down to Joe and Carlo with the Mayor being knocked out in the Primary.

I'm sorry Lynda, but Carlo's intelligence is on the same level as an after dinner mint.

Hasn't anyone heard him speak, or should I say, try to speak, at a city council meeting?

He's a dope.

Emile, Emile, Emile... Don't hold back now.
Sorry I like him and think he would do a good job. I still need to hear Joe talk about what he wants to do for the city before I make up my mind but, I do like Carlo.

Emile, you crack me up.

Lynda, I like Carlo too, but the "likability" factor is what got us into the mess we're in. Everyone thought Hanlon was such a likable guy.

Carlo's biggest handicapped is his inability to express himself without sounding silly. If you can sift through the silliness, sometimes he actually does have some pretty good ideas. I'm just afraid they get lost in the translation.

Does anyone remember former Mayor Ragucci's speaking skills when he started.

I also like Carlo very much as a person. Great guy. I must agree with Citizen on this though. People elected the current mayor because he was a nice guy. We need to elect someone with the skill to get the job done. If that can also be accomplished by electing a "nice guy", then so be it. I think Joe McGonagle fits that bill. Even if nobody running fit that mold I'd rather have someone competant and not so nice in charge to get things back in order around here. Youth and energy could be an asset. I'm not sure an exceptional intelligence level is one of Carlo's stronger points. He needs public speaking classes to help him express himself without sounding foolish. I believe former mayor Ragucci took those also. Even if you have good ideas, if you can't articulate them properly they could be dismissed by the public viewing audience who watch those meetings. Perception is reality.

One of Carlo's famous quotes comes to mind when city council was considering ELIMINATING dogs from defecating in the city parks including Glendale Park.......

Apparently Carlo advocated dog mess in the parks because he said "Dogs are people too." and went on to argue against the ordinance to prohibit dog soiling in the parks.

Now the Pup is sympatico to a certain degree, but he does value his privacy.

I think Joe will be our new Mayor.

Poor John, put a fork in him, he's done.

Many actually said the same thing about McCarthy when David won.

Funny how history repeats itself.

Same name, same people.......

Late last night I caught the beginning of the Everett High graduation. The only part I saw was when they were giving out some of the awards, one the students to receive an award was Crystal V. Eason. I thought she said she was a college student majoring in history at Stonehill College.

Sally, I saw her picture in the Advocate today, too. I wasn't getting on her case, I just thought she was already in college from her post. I went back and reread it and she says she is a student at Stonehill College majoring in History. I wish she had said she was a graduating Everett High student who will be going to college in September. By the way she posted, I thought she was a little older than she is.

I know of her and knew she was graduating with my child. I too thought it should have said she was graduating from Everett High and going to Stonehill in September. Her boyfriend is running for councillor or alderman, Sergio Cornelio.
