Councilman McKinnon put it on the calendar . . . so the ultimate responsibility lies with him. You are correct, the Council President could have kept the letter from being read. He would have to have made the ruling. Members could have objected to having it read, but the President would have had to make the decision. For that matter, the Mayor could have prevented it from being read; in his conversations with Councilman McKinnon prior to the meeting, he could have emphasized to Councilman McKinnon that it was inappropriate and suggest that he remove it from the calendar. Instead, he thanked Councilman McKinnon for bringing it forward, but the proceeded to decry the fact that it was brought forward. Perhaps Councilwoman Bruno could have objected to having the letter read, but it seems that the actual reading of the letter caught many a member off guard. I take Ms. Bruno at her word when she says that, in her conversations with McKinnon, he gave no indication that he intended to have the letter read.

Solid,
Mr. McKinnon owns this whole side show. He is, after all, an adult and a member of a legislative body. As such, he has an obligation to both the body and the people whom he represents to be tempered, thoughtful and prudent in his approach. The reading of an unsigned letter indicates that he failed miserably on all counts.
Additionally, the president is normally inclined to allow members of the council to "have their say." It is unclear whether Mr. McKinnon gave him a "heads up" on the contents before the meeting. I am inclined to believe that this would not be the case, as I believe the Council president would have tried to talk him out of it.
Mr. McKinnon is not known for being an insightful legislator, nor is he widely believe to be a man of wisdom. He has quite a temper when he is crossed. He believes himself to be quite the political player and probably thought he could play a little "hard ball" at Lori Bruno's expense. In doing so, he reveals exactly who he is and whom he supports.

My Dear Friend Court, Our City Council may only aspire to sip at the fountain of eloquence that you drink from. As usual, you bring forth an intelligent and well balanced assessment of the topic.
Ms. Bruno's character is certainly beyond reproach.
Kindest regards,

Emile - is it you? At long last?
Thank you for your kinds words. I merely call it as I see it. Pray that the Council finds it's footing soon; otherwise, it will become as obsolete as an appendix, one that our voters may wish to remove at some point.
It does appear that both bodies are loathe to take on the CM on Vine Street; why I will never understand. He barely comes up to their belly-buttons and yet, the fear is palpable. The valiant taste of death but once... |

Why do the papers in Everett refer to Bogonzzi as being Jason Marcus' Brother In Law ??
Marcus isn't married to the best of my knowledge. |

Marcus's girlfriend is Borgonzi's sister or sister in law.
