I HAD A THOUGHT IF WE AS CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF EVERETT GET A PETITION DRIVE GOING CAN WE BRING BACK THE MEN AND WOMAN WHO WERE LET GO.
IT'S A QUESTION AND IT HAS BEEN ON MY MIND FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS. I THINK THEY WERE LET GO UNFAIRLY AND AFTER READING THE AUDIT I DON'T SEE WHERE ANYONE DID ANYTHING WRONG.
AFTER ALL BEV DORMAN WAS BROUGHT BACK. TIME FOR A NEW MAYOR IT SHOWED AT HIS OPENING LAST SATURDAY AS NO-ONE AND I MEAN NO-ONE WAS THERE LIKE IT WAS SEVERAL YEARS BACK.
I sincerely doubt a petition would help get any of them back work. What they need is a good lawyer!
Beverly Dorman is back because it's time to do the budget and Ventrano doesn't have a clue how to do it! Actually, it's past time. (just like last year) The department heads should have been meeting with the mayor and budget director and working the numbers. I don't believe that has happened. Last year the department heads were told what their budget was. No discussion, just here it is.
Still, a petition isn't a bad idea. While the fired/suspended employees do need a good lawyer, they also need community support, and the petition process is also a way to show City Hall that they can't beat down the little people all the time.
I agree with justme about the reasoning behind bringing Bev Dorman back. It was the first thing I thought of when Bev Dorman was let go: Who is going to do the budget if Bev's gone, because there's no way on God's green earth that Janice Vetrano can put together a city budget. You would have thought the woman wouldn't have gone to school to learn in the past year - before she put her rival under the bus. God love Everett; you couldn't make this stuff up.
