Not only is the mayor a coward, he also showed how devious he can be. He waited until after the last scheduled meeting BOA or CC meeting until September to make his intentions known about the budget. There is only a CC meeting scheduled before the primary. I also believe that the Mayor flat out lied Monday night. During the Local 25 discussion, I believe that I remember him saying that there would be layoffs. How can this be if the budget has been implemented with only $96,000 cut out? Isn't this the man who closed one of his TV presentations from the last election with the words "I will never lie to you"?
What really scares me is the number of Hanlon signs I see all over the city. I can't believe that this man still has any kind of support. I just don't get it. |

I'm not surprised, justme. Disgusted, but not surprised.
As for the signs, there are always going to be the diehard loyalists, tetris. People who just can't let go of the dream . . . even one that burned out so quickly. |

Some of those signs are there because their jobs depend on it, others because of the intimidation factor. We all know signs don't vote and I imagine that at least some of the signs won't, ultimately, have a vote associated with it.
How is it that he was able to turn the salary cuts into the CC & BOA not honoring Local 25's contract? He was the one that would be making the decision about what jobs would be cut............ He was the one cutting local 25 instead of his political hacks........ He was the one that wouldn't let departments process the paperwork to give them the negotiated increase.......... Did the union members really buy into that? |

Citizen Kane - How would the residents go about calling for Hanlon's resignation? We all know that he is too smug to resign but it would surely send a strong message before the primary. |

C.K. We know that the Mayor will never resign! But after what the Mayor just pulled We should be able to get him impeached thru the B.O.A. and the C.C. before the elections! He knew all along what he was going to pull off just whatch the budjet meetings! I think we can get enough votes to do it! At least try! |

Not that it's any consolation, but did you see the news about Lawrence? They're in a very similar situation and their mayor is threatening a shut down down if the city council doesn't approve the budget which is at the levy limit. Last year they had an issue too and did a one month budget three times! |

Maybe we should try and find out if the Mayor of Lawrence and our great Mr Hanlon hang out together and make their threats up over cocktails. I could just picture the two of them now toasting each other with these threats. |

Hi All, I feel so out of the loop after being away. I need to get my hands on some newspapers. Saw a lot of Hanlon signs driving through Everett last night. |

Welcome home Massdee I hope you had a great time on your venture. I personally haven't seen alot of Hanlon signs, some, but not alot. I have seen alot of Carlo Di Maria signs and Joe's people in Glendale square holding signs but, that is it so far. |

From the Advocate Newspaper... More than 60 new employees have been added to the city payroll since John Hanlon assumed the mayor’s office less than two years ago. |

I think it is interesting that FFF asked that the "Gentlemen's Agreement" not to hang signs all around the City be honored because he felt Everett would look like a shanty town. Who were the first offenders? - the mayor and FFF's nephew, Stephen Faia.
Regarding the 60 new employees, I would like to see that list. I hope it does not include fire and police or new members of various boards. The board members alone would make the list misleading as they change quite often. |

CCLou, Faia is voted on city wide, so it doesn't mater what ward you live in. Furthermore, no one on this board cares where other poster do and do not live, we all have a right to our opinions. I think it is very important to make sure the voters know that Faia is Fred Foresteire's nephew. Does anyone really want him as one of our Aldermen? I know I don't. I want Fred and anyone connected to him, gone. |

Sorry CCLou, but I am not "disgrace" and I do not "bash" people. Although, I do tend to agree with FFF on this one. |
