So that is probably a good indication how the budget hearing are going to go. If I understand your post correctly, Bruno was the only one to vote to rescind the vote. If that is the case, what a shame. It was one program that could be cut without hurting the taxpayer. |

Sorry for the short reply...had house guests at the time....had to be short...you understood my reply correctly.
Bruno was trying to put over that she was just attempting to put the program on hold; the BOA could vote it down next Monday if the budget could be cut to a point where it could be afforded. Nobody wanted to take job away from the kids. Hickey pointed out that it would take four readings to actually pass the order (I thought there was some way around that; could be wrong) which would take it to the end of July with their summer schedule unless special meetings were held. Hicks got up and rambled for a while; thought she was going after Raineri since he is involved in oversight for the program in Public Works. Di Domenico had to reign her in. Simonelli got up to support Bruno put then voted against it (?).
The next few days won't be pretty....I have my doubts that they are up to making tough decisions. When they are done, I hope the city will have some money left in the stabilization fund and the bond rating doesn't go to hell. But I'm not going to hold my breath on it. |

This bunch is going to end up hurting a lot of people. There will be even more homes up for sale. The Everett we once knew is going to be gone forever. What a sad day for all of us. |

I am confused. Are you saying that they still have not approved the monies for this summers City Summer Youth Work program or next years? I have not seen the meeting as of yet. Haven't kids already been called for their work assignments for this summer? |

Lynda, the CC approved the money last night. I don't know if it has to go back to the BOA or not. That is where I am confused. The money is for FY08 which begins July 1, 2007, so it is for this summers program. |

I'll skip the review.......... They cut 3% from the bottom line. Who, why and where is in the mayor's hands. I think they better watch the numbers closely otherwise the new administration will find no money when they take over in January! |

So . . . that brings us just under the levy limit? And this is supposed to be a good thing? |

Not from where I sit CK, but I guess they think so. Apparently they're all a bit more comfortable financially than I am..... |

If the administration is considering layoffs, I certainly hope it is for the new hires and not the people who rely on the paychecks to support families.
How silly am I? The hard workers always get screwed.
