Yes, he did. I don't have the numbers, but I hear he won by a very good margin. |

Senate shoo-in has one week to move to district Galluccio doesn’t live in the district
By Dave Wedge | Tuesday, October 2, 2007 | You must be logged in to see this link. | Local Politics A Cambridge city councilor poised to assume former state Sen. Jarrett Barrios’ seat lives outside the district and must move by next week or risk breaking election laws, the Herald has learned.
Anthony Galluccio, who beat out four Democrats in a primary last month and has no Republican challenger in Tuesday’s special election, lives on Sunset Road in Cambridge, which is in the district of Sen. Steven Tolman, not the neighborhood formerly served by Barrios, records show.
In addition to being registered to vote at his Sunset Road home, Galluccio also gets a city of Cambridge residential tax exemption for the property. He has applied for and received the exemption for 2007, Cambridge officials said.
Residents of many cities, including Boston and Cambridge, receive discounted property taxes for their primary residence. It is illegal to live somewhere else while claiming a residential tax exemption.
State election laws require candidates to “be an inhabitant of the district when elected.”
Galluccio spokesman Frank Perullo said the former city councilor and Cambridge mayor “is moving by Tuesday” to comply with election laws but wouldn’t say if he is selling the home.
“The law is pretty clear and it states that you have to live inside a district by the election date,” Perullo said. “Anthony is definitely complying with that law.”
Brian McNiff, a spokesman for Secretary of State William Galvin, said no one challenged Galluccio’s residency when he took out nomination papers. But his election could be challenged by the state Senate, McNiff said.
Galluccio handily won the nomination to succeed Barrios, beating out prosecutor Tim Flaherty, Chelsea City Councilor Paul Nowicki and attorney Jeff Ross, all of whom currently live in the district.
Galluccio, who withdrew from a 2006 Senate race against Barrios, came under fire after a suspicious 2005 late-night accident in Boston during which witnesses alleged he was drunk. No charges were filed. Galluccio has two drunken driving convictions on his record - in 1984 and 1997 - but received a pardon from former Gov. William Weld for the first offense.

Gee. The same should apply for Mayor. Everyone knows Joe McGonagle lives in Winthrop and Jim Mitchell from the Fish Rap Rag lives on Everett St. |

Taylor, give it a rest. Your anger and bitterness is tiresome.

Taylor, Do you really think that Joe would run for Mayor of Everett and reside in a different city? Do you really think that he felt that NO ONE would ever find out such a thing? Do you really think that it would take a Blog to OUT him? Come on now Taylor you can do better than that. If that is the best thing you could come up with than maybe he should be our new Mayor. |

Taylor,
I think most of us have tried to be understanding of your bitter disappointment, but spreading rumor and innuendo is no way to help your new found candidate. Why not talk about your candidate's positive qualities that will be the "rising tide that lifts all boats" instead of this very lame, very schoolchildish kind of stuff. After all, you haven't seen the 5th grade in quite some time! |

Actually Court4Fred I think that he is a Joe supporter and he is making us aware of the fact that this accusation is the best they can do to try and belittle him. I actually like Carlo in the race myself, but after reading this and finding out that this is the worst thing that they can make up about Joe I am second thinking my vote. Maybe this is what Taylor has had in mind all along. |

You know, Lynda - having read Taylor's "body of work" here on the site - Taylor's first post was about her/his support for John Hanlon; a number of other posts were aggressively against Carlo and Joe until the primary, after which Taylor had a "road to Damascus" conversion and is now an ardent Carlo supporter. (The reason I believe Taylor works at city hall is the amount of insider game that Taylor routinely posted - it was a dead giveaway) And while supporting Carlo is fine and to be expected of people who work for city hall, the constant carping on Joe's address, which is indeed on Everett Street, is just way too schoolyard for this board. |

Taylor,
Allegations like these have been made on the other board for quite some time yet no one has presented any firm evidence that they are true or false. If you believe so strongly in this claim, why don't you spend the time, money and effort to prove that your claim is true? I'm sure that there are ways that it can be done.
And since you appear to be posting here again, could you provide some of your insight as to why the mayor seems to have backed off of his initial support of DeMaria as reported in the North Weekly section of the Globe on Sunday September 23rd? |

Tetris....JOhn's historically had a hard time with the truth.....the open meeting law debacle...the tax levy....alleging $5 million bucks were missing even as the outside auditor is shaking his head...and then after the audit, where he claimed that he didn't notify the press about the audit while his staff stood there with a big cardboard 5 million dollar check - because they always do stuff like that.
