FYI:
There is no backing off on Mr.DeMaria. Mr Hanlon vehemently supports Mr. DeMaria along with his supporters and the School Committee too.
Election night is all that matters. |

Taylor,
Are you saying that the quotation attributed to the mayor in that article was not factual? If so, why hasn't there been any response to it in the last two weeks? How is the public supposed to know what the truth is? |

Truth about what?
On primary night it was clear who the Hanlon supporters would be supporting and that is Carlo DeMaria. Mr Hanlon made a nice speech for Mr. DeMaria. There might be some confusion because the Globe asked Mr. Hanlon if he “officially” endorsed Carlo and his answer was not yet. I have not seen an official endorsement but it’s certainly no secret.

Taylor, since you are one of Mayor Hanlon's supporters, could you tell me what happened between Mayor Hanlon and Councilman Chickie Clifford? At one time Mr Clifford was one of the Mayor's staunches supporters, long before the primary his support has gone elsewhere. |

John supports the school committee? Is anyone surprised? This is why Mayor Hanlon took no action on the AG's letter that detailed the use of EHS employees and resources by the superintendent. I always wondered why such a "stand up" guy would ignore such a letter. Now we know. Everybody's in the tank together. |

You posted on election night that the mayor endorsed DeMaria; you were backed up by reporting in the Independent. Therefore, I have no doubt that this happened. I don't understand why this wouldn't be considered an "official" endorsement. I guess my Everett School system education fails me again.
The following is taken directly from the Globe article that I referenced earlier (which is still available on-line at Boston.com): "Despite initial reports that Hanlon endorsed DeMaria after polls closed, Hanlon said in an interview that he has not done so."
Sorry, but I don't see the word "officially" anywhere in the article. It may have been used in the interview and not included in the article. However, if that were the case, that would change the meaning of the above statement; I don't believe that the mayor would appreciate being misrepresented like that in the article.
Again I ask, what is the public supposed to think? |

I'm not sure why you're bothering tetris. No matter what, or how, you ask, Taylor will spin it based on what mood he/she is in at the time. I'd say Taylor learned at hanlon's knee and was a good student.............. |

Actually tetris, I have been enjoying your back and forth discussion. You can run circles around Taylor. |

Massdee,
Thanks for the kudos. I like to try to get some valid dialog going on the board whenever possible. The problem is that, most of the time, a lot of us have similar opinions even if we support different people. Some credit needs to be given to Taylor, too. He/she is a willing partner, if sometimes selective about what he/she responds to (What about the where Joe lives issue, Taylor?) and gives me a lot to work with. It must be hard to be a lone voice in the wilderness too and his/her arguments are usually at least a couple steps above the schoolyard stuff that passes for debate elsewhere. |

Yes massdee, tetris is definitely running circles around Taylor. I just hate to encourage him/her with all this attention. It may come back to haunt us............... |

justme, that very well could end up being the case, but it's been so quiet around here lately it was good to read a little give and take. |

As my last post suggests, I actually enjoy some diversity of opinion on this board. However, I promise that I will break off any debate with anyone if it starts to devolve into the schoolyard stuff. In this case, part of the reason that I decided to engage in this debate was to try to get Taylor to stop the schoolyard stuff he/she was posting in this thread. The posts that were pleading for him/her to go away didn't seem to have any effect; Court's plea for him/her to take a higher road didn't seem to work either. I thought that trying to start a discussion with him/her would force the bar to be raised some or make him/her go away for a while. I think that I had some success, at least this time. |

I see your point tetris. As you've probably noticed, I'm a bit short on patience (I think it comes with age) and could never pull it off but I hope you're successful. |

Did our new Senator find a new place to live? Why didn't he know this before it was brought to his attention? Or someone advising him should of. Interesting. |
