Tails - you would never get an argument from me; it was unconscionable that the taxpayers had to pay for a budget director who couldn't do her job and needed an assistant to do it for her. There was no need for the number of assistants in mayor's office...or for the driver, for that matter. These jobs paid reasonably well, and the it's not wrong for taxpayers to expect a level of competence. I don't think it's unseemly to ask that the Director of the DPW know how to manage the operations of the city - like street cleaning and snow plowing, and managing the vendors who provide trash removal. These are fundamental services that have to be addressed immediately!

In addition to taxpayers paying for employees who cannot do their jobs, how about the new carpeting that was put in over Columbus Day weekend on the third floor? How about Donald Andrew being hired for the remainder of the mayor's term as his assistant to the tune of appox $1500 per week? This nightmare will not end for quite sometime. The taxpayers will continue to pay and pay and pay.

I just re-watched the segment of the CC meeting that dealt with the setting of the tax rate and want to correct the numbers that I had quoted in my earlier post. The new residential tax rate is estimated to be $10.35; it would have been $11.25 without the $4 million that was applied to the tax levy last week. The break point for paying more or less taxes will actually be $394,500. Sorry for the misinformation earlier. Like I said before, I was very distracted last night.

Taylor -you're an absolute embarrasment to this site. The fact that you could bring up Joe's father who is deceased is a disgrace. Talk about dirty politics. If you have so much to say, why don't you speak to Joe directly. Oh, I'm sorry. Cowards don't do that type of thing.

As I have said many times, I did not support Dave Ragucci. (what a mistake) Anyway, correct me if I'm wrong, but I do not remember all this incompetence during the Ragucci Administration. January can not get here soon enough, whether it be Joe or Carlo.

I did support David and although I didn't agree with all the people he brought onboard, the majority were hard working and capable of doing their job. One thing I am sure of, his department heads were held accountable for their budgets and he watched those figures like he was spending his own money! The year Romney cut funding, he even had them all take a week off without pay! And when he lost the election, he didn't start spending like a drunken sailor. It continued to be business as usual...............

It's a long time until January, I hope there is something left for the new administration.

Fedup- can we get records to show that Don Andrew is now another highly paid assistant? Sounds like the feed at the public trough has gone into overtime. Have ever figured out what happened to the fancy television set?

So, Court, how could we go about getting the records on Don Andrews salary?

Justme and Court
My brother-in-law works for the city and that is the latest news. I would guess that one could call either personnel or the auditor's office. Positions and salary are public record.

I'd be willing to bet they won't give that information out over the phone. They'll make you submit a public records request.
