Actually, MassDee....I don't think that Joe is a "sore loser" for not wanting to give it another go. It's a lot to ask of families and friends, and quite frankly, the nonsense last weekend and the phone call to Joe's mother must have been the icing on the cake. It may be part of the game...but it shouldn't be.

That said - congratulations to Carlo. I wish him well, and that he guides this city toward a better future.

Taylor - you were one of the ones posting fallacies, stories and myths, courtesy of the Hanlon camp. There was no fight. There was no "beating." And yet you came out here and posted it as though it was gospel truth....and someone called Mr. McGonagle's mother with the story. How is this within the "normal" range of political behavior? It isn't.

Here's hoping for unity, for the sake of this poor beleaguered city....but divisive people like you, Taylor, will never understand that concept. You need help and I hope you get it.

if you read todays paper it clearly states that the only reason that Joe didn't win is due to him taking ill at the end of last week and was not able to do his foot work. no other reason.

Janeen, the idea that McGonagle lost because he took sick for a few days is ludicrous. Maybe the heinous and insidious stories that people were spreading about the nature of his illness contributed to his defeat, along with the fact that the voter turnout was abyssmal. Only about 7800 people came out to vote.

Hanlon's support of DeMaria was clearly a factor in his victory. And now, as others, including McGonagle, have said, it's time for all of us to rally around the new mayor and try to heal the city.

Congrats to Carlo and his family. This City needs someone like Carlo, a taxpayer, businessman and most importantly a family man. I stand behind Carlo 100% and am glad he came out on top. Now let's get this City back on track!!!!

CitizenKane. Get real do you really believe that people didn't vote for Joe because there were rumors about his health. they elected a man who was 70+ for mayor last time around. if there was a health issue the issue in that election should have been old age. no one was afraid that health wise he couldn't do the job. they just knew he couldn't do the job. he is a evil man without any thoughts in his head to call his own. and a sh*t slinger to boot.

No, Head, I think McGonagle's inability to get out the vote along with the fact that Hanlon's votes clearly went to Carlo are the two reasons McGonagle lost. My comment, which perhaps was unclear, was that it was ludicrous to assume that McGonagle lost because an illness prevented him from campaigning fully for the last few days of the election season.

And once again . . . shall we all move on and try to rally around the single purpose of getting this city back together?

Head - do you have a reading comprehension problem? Reread CitizenKane's response again. She clearly states that the Independent's take on the loss due to ill health was "ludicrous."

As for your other comments about Mr. McGonagle - well, we consider the source. Keep pounding your head, Head. No grace in victory for you either.

Say what you will, Taylor………………….. There were no lies, rumors, or trash from Carlo’s people until after the primary but there was plenty coming from hanlon supporters. I’d say the facts speak for themselves.

Freddy fly away in the Mini. School is out. The kids are stepping in poop at Swan Street park. Deal with real issues.

I am more interested in knowing what Carlo DiMaria’s plan is. Where are his priorities on the agenda? What is it that he wants to change and how will he do it. Most important, what will happen with the land down lower broadway. We all know it’s going to TeeBow but what will he be allowed to do with it. Once January comes, the public needs to be aware of all this. Actually, the sooner the better.

I got the funniest phone call today from my husband. He was working last night and I did not get a chance to see him. He had run into his Uncle and they were chatting. His Uncle goes on to tell him he was in a bar the other night (my husband did not catch which one) and a fist fight broke out between guess who and another man!!! Now, I had NEVER discussed the rumors with my husband, we hardly see each other with our conflicting schedules. I cut him off and told his I had heard the same thing. He even named a few more people who we know who were present. I know it is over now but I think lack of honesty turns people off. We all make mistakes, but do not try and play us off as fools with made up stories.
