I'm sure it's public record how over budget city service fleet dept. was before Lattorelli took over, that's becuase he put a stop to all the theft going on in that department by one of the mechanics. That mechanic has been out to get Lattorelli out of there from the 1st day for that reason. Once the mechanic got to Sheehan and had him going against Lattorelli the budget went out of control again, everyong down there knows they were making it impossible for Lattorelli to get anything he wanted done. Look at the suspensions when lattorelli was acused of an inappropriate relationship with a vendor, that vendor was the auto parts store in Malden, the one Lattorelli got rid of, now that he is gone the mechanic is fighting like mad to get that same vendor back in. When Lattorelli was spreading the auto repair work around the city he got heck from Sheehan and the mechanic for not using a service company down on Broadway, when Lattorelli wouldnt give in and continued spreading the work around the city, low and behold behind his back a contract was signed with the Broadway company giving them all service and body work for the city. Check it out for yourself if you don't beleive me, it's all public record. One company that was getting some business from Lattorelli was Auto Solutions on Vine Street, all of a sudden the payments kept getting delayed for serveral months making it impossible for Lattorelli to keep using them. It's all fact that is easily found out if anyone wants to know the truth. Sure Lattorelli worked for McGonagle and that's the reason he is gone, but if Carlo gave him a chance and checked into the problems he was against he would have found out he was doing his job well, even with the internal stuff he was up against, Lattoreli kept complaining he had no support down there and obviously couldn't go to the aminisration for help to solve the issues that Sheehan and the mechanic were giving him. |

You're right fatharlie, Latorelli was pretty vocal down there aout everything you wrote about and he was let go becuase he supported McGonagle. He also helped out our new councilman from Ward 1 who is a close friend of Carlos, he helped out that gentleman with helping him write his literature, sending out dear friend cards and he really liked the kid, I'm wondering if the councilman could have gone to bat for him, he obviously knows Latorelli isn't a slouch. Shame on the counclman if he didn't and it sure looks like he didn't, as a matter of fact there were plenty of people down city yards who went to Latorelli when they need help and they always got it. He was the fleet manager but I know for a fact he worked very hard at getting the new system set up in the sign shop, something he didn't have to do. I believe Carlo should have taken a closer look at keeping him, maybe he should look again. |

If the taxpayers of the city ever knew what really goes on down there we would have a revolution. How about the gas that the taxpayers are footing the bill on, inspectors getting unlimited gas weekly, we have two police officers using their private vehicles to go to the Malden courrt and we fill their gas tanks no matter how much private driving they do. With gas prices today wouldn't it be nice if the taxpayers got that break. We have people driving city cars 24/7 gasing up on the city even if their taking their kids across the state to college and making six figure salaries, we even pay their insurance, repairs and everything else. Lattorelli was monitoring that stuff and his complaints feel on deaf ears with the Hanlon administation, he even complained about people filling up multiple vehicles on the city dime and got no help. Know what his reward was, political payback for supporting the losing candidate. |

That is not surprising at all. It is sad that they get away with it and nothing is done. Or when someone like Latorelli tries to fix things and they turn on him. I hope Carlo hears about this.

The firing of Tony Latorelli, like the firing of Mr Keverian, is political payback. I was hoping Carlo would be different and keep people on who know and do their jobs well. Tony has worked on at least three of Joe McGonagle's campaigns that I know of. I guess your best bet is, if your work for the city don't let on who you are supporting. That old saying, "it's not what you know but who you know" is alive and well in Everett. |

A solution to the inspectors and the police officers using their own vehicles is simple. Provide marked city vehicles for them.
All the building inspectors and health inspectors would have vehicles to use while they are on the clock. Takes away the suggested sense of impropriety and it would certainly be much more professional when conducting inspections.
Buy a couple more police cars for the police officers to use when doing police business. They use their own vehicles because there aren't enough patrol vehicles available during the day.
Very simple.
Carlo, are you listening????

It never ceases to amaze me that people that know the least about a subject are the ones that think they are an authority on that subject. The real truth about what goes on down at City Services is so far off from your babbling that you "know it alls" would be surprised at your lack of knowledge. I'll leave it there & unless you actually see or hear something then it is nothing but pure gossip. You can't be an authority on something by relying on hearsay. By the time you hear something it has gone around and been magnified. If you took the time to really listen to Carlo, this is just the type of thing he depises; gossip & hearsay. He wants to evaluate everyone on their own merit and not listen to people that have no direct knowledge of his employees. He will evaluate job perfromances on his own & then make the right choices for the City. He wants unity not pettiness. Give it a try. |

Well, then, Moe . . . give us your version of the "real truth." Counter what's being said with some evidence of your own. |

Hey Moe, Glad to see that someone else here relies on truths and not just plain of gossip! As far as the rest of the know-it-alls, you already don't like what I have to say, but I don't care, if all you guys have noting better to do then just keep gossiping good luck to you. I think we need to give Carlo a chance. |

Most of the City Service issues being discussed here, not all but most, happened under the Hanlon Administration. We are all hoping Carlo will be made aware of it and if true, puts an end to it. Most of us are willing to give Carlo a chance but if he messes up you can bet we will post about it. Carlo does not get a pass just because he is a new mayor, and if some of you don't like it, "I don't care." |

I find AVGMOM, er, coffeelover1965's love and support for Carlo to be very touching.
