Simonelli was ruled out of order for straying too far from the subject matter of item 14. And he just wouldn't stop! There was a good of amount of yelling going on during the recess that was getting picked up on some microphone too. When the meeting came back on, he apologized but he also started down the path again before he stopped himself. He promised to put the Wood Waste issue on the calendar at some point in the future. I'm sure that we'd all be interested in that.

I’m thrilled that someone had the guts to bring up Wood Waste but what on earth did that have to do with item number 14? I didn’t see the entire meeting and I did not what happened with Simonelli. (I can only imagine)

The mayor told Simonelli that the DCR wasn't interested is selling the pool to the city (same thing that Sal DiDominico told him a month or more ago.) Simonelli wanted the mayor to pursue it anyways. The mayor told Simonelli that he wouldn't because he didn't support it. Simonelli kind of lost it and wanted to speak to the mayor about other "community improvements" (I think that was the term he used) as he believed that was the real focus of item #14. He started off down the Wood Waste path and Bruno tried to stop him. Others members also called for him to be ruled out of order. Bruno finally took a break to let him compose himself. I think that I have already covered what happened after that.

Item #1 - I guess everyone was satisified that there are no issues that they could get tripped up on this sale. We elected them to make these types of decisions so I suggest that we just let this item go forward the way that it is. If anything comes up, they'll just have to take the lumps that could associated with it.

Item #5 - Guess I was wrong about this item last week. As punishment, I will attempt to refrain from pseudo-legal opinions for a while (Let's see how long that lasts). The item's status on this week's agenda was technically wrong but since we now know that the item had to be amended, it didn't matter as the process has to start all over again anyways.

Items #11 and 16 - Julius has been around for a while and must be pretty good at his job but it is painful to hear him speak. I feel bad every time someone butchers his name too. I just don't get why Ranieri still has him involved in this. Maybe he was a help at some point, but it now seems to be something that is out of his realm. Ranieri seemed to know more about the status of some the issues involved anyways. Either Ranieri needs to own the entire thing or find another department (Community Development?) that is better equipped to handle it.

Item #12 - 3 more police officers. OK, we can talk about that. Dedicated to speeding issues - Not going to happen.

Item #14 - Nuff said already.

Item #17 - Seems to be some type of issue with water bills but I didn't get it. Anybody know?

Item #19 - Referred to Stat Smith?

Item #21 - Important, yes. But, I still don't get why the item is not on the worksheet. BTW, the crosswalk lights don't seem to be working at the armory either, at least on the opposite side of the street.

Item #22 - Referred to traffic. I now understand why the item is not on the worksheet.

Item #23 - Clearly a worksheet item.

Item #24 - Can understand Sierra's frustration but did he need to take it out on the city engineer? He has never decided what streets gets done. How can Sierra not be plugged into the street and sidewalk committee? Was Ranieri out of order when he talked about the sidewalks on Tileston Street being dug up? Or Hicks' thank you to the city engineer (at least she admitted that she might be out of order)? I'm not sure...but Steve Simonelli may have an opinion.

Bruno - I don't have as big of a headache as usual. Think that a part of that was that the meeting was relatively short. Did pretty good with Simonelli but as I pointed out in item 24, was she applying the rules fairly? I'm not sure. The item 24 extraneous issues were kind of quick but does that make them any more right? Still gets too much help running the meetings; tonight, it was from her members. The agenda? How about if they just throw the agenda items in hat and pick them out randomly. Would make as much sense.

I happen to agree with Tetris on the handling of Mr Simonelli on the Wood Waste outburst. Ms. Bruno did the right thing by shutting it off. We'll see if it makes the next CC agenda. Does anyone know if the city is still in litigation with Mr Thibeault over the old city yards? Of course, the old city yards and lower Broadway are two different issues, so I would think lower Broadway would be allowed to be discussed.

As for the other two councilors going off topic and being allowed to do so, if I was Mr Simonelli I wouldn't be a happy camper. In my opinion, what's good for one, is good for all.

Also, my own personal opinion, I like Ms. Bruno but I don't feel she runs a very good meeting.

I agree too that this issue should have been on the calendar but they always use the excuse "can not discuss becasue we are in litigation" well...now everyone is on notice and I will give Simonelli credit for one thing when he said he took an oath for the people, not Wood Waste. He was right on the money with that statement.

I had a little disagreement with Card last week it appears about who approve appointments in the city. I claimed that the BOA was the sole appointing authority. It appears that I was wrong. Sorry about that.

The appointment to the housing authority is controlled by state law. At first, I thought that this might be the reason for the difference. However, I did a little research in the Everett city charter and found that there are requirements in it for certain posititions to be approved both by the BOA and CC. These positions are City Clerk, Assisstant City Clerk, Clerk of Committes and members of the Planning Board. Again, sorry for the confusion.

I'm not understanding item# 1 and why transfer from those particular accounts.

Item# 2 I think Mike is a great guy however, have these always been 5 year appointments and nothing personal to Mike but this is another hiring favor. It more same ole same ole.

They have to get item# 11 off the calendar. It's a sign for goodness sakes. Have the sign put up and be done with it. Ranieri wants too many signs all over the place like bestbuy is an entrance to Disney World.

Item#12 While Simonelli is getting reports on the condition of the parks he should also mention behind Minichello they dump all kinds of crap right next to the playground which I am sure in not too healthy.

Rosa DiFlorio is absolutely correct the city is not collecting overdue taxes. My neighbor hasn't paid for years and thats not right.

I saved my favorite for last......item 17. 1st we had Jason Marcus up there crying over the mail he has received (which I think was heavily exaggerated) and he never would have put that on the agenda if it was not for Simonelli's outburst. Simonelli's outburst may have been inappropriate but I can understand where he's coming from and I would hope that the correct questions are asked. Woodwaste is a matter of concern for the entire city and the city/taxpayers have the right to an open public hearing.

Item #17, Councilman Simonelli did what he said he would do and put all of the Wood Waste issue on the agenda. He is even asking for a public hearing. Good for him.

Let's pay close attention to our elected officials and see what they have to say about this issue and if they will vote to approve to send this to the Mayor and have a public hearing.

Item #1 - The city council is tired of the problems with the microphones in the council chamber, which don't work a good deal of the time, and is using money that is expected to be left over in their budget FY2008 to fix the problem. If they don't, who else will? It's something that's long over due.

I agree. It is aggravating to the viewers, I can only imagine how irritating it must be for the City Council. Good for them for trying to take care of it.

Oh, I see. Thanks for that. Reading it like this..."Transfer from City Council Salaries Account to the City Council Office Supplies Account" was an eye catcher for me. (for me, and trying to keep accurate records and book keeping, I would think that would come from an "equipment" account).....but I see what you mean.
