Well, as I told you at the beginning of this conversation, when I asked for him a couple of weeks ago at the Everett store, I was told he had gone to Saugus. Given the amount of unfounded gossip that frequently gets posted out here, I prefer to give the young man the benefit of the doubt. |

Well I can tell you witout a doubt that he is not working for any Best Buy store anywhere. He can explain why this is if he chooses to. I already know the entire story.

Concerning the Best Buy sign, I hope Anthony Ranieri is not going to go through the entire thing again. We all have listened to the same thing over and over. I’m sorry but this item has been the biggest waste of time. I don’t know if he/people are unprepared, but Ranieri needs to get all the players at the same table. Seems like it was done in drips and drabs. It’s a sign for goodness sakes. They have to keep Ranieri on the “completion” of the sign and the five minute rule. |

3. C0184-08 Order/s/Councilor Lorrie Bruno, as President The City of Everett established a committee to prepare a Hazard Mitigation Plan, which contains recommendations for several potential projects to mitigate impacts from natural hazards. Such plan was considered at the public meeting of the Common Council on August 18, 2008 and the public meeting of the Board of Aldermen on August 25, 2008. Accordingly, it is hereby ordered the Mayor, Common Council, and the Board of Aldermen adopt the Hazard Mitigation Plan, in accordance with Section 27 of the Charter of the City of Everett.
What am I missing with this? How could this plan be considered before the meetings have taken place? Is someone jumping the gun or am I misunderstanding the statement? |

It's not just you, justme (LOL!); as I said in my comments, I didn't get it either. Seems very presumptuous. |

Are the two Napolitano's related?
I am curios as to where the younger Napolitano stands on Wood Waste. I noticed he didn’t second Simonelli’s motion to have the Mayor appear at the next meeting to discuss the public hearing for Wood Waste, which was promised back in June. I know it’s early and time will tell. I just hope he’s there for all the right reasons.

Does anyone know what the secrecy is concerning the fire fighters reserve list and why we need a legal opinion on it? Why not just come out and say exactly what it is? I certainly have my suspicions as to what it is, and I know I have issues with the names on the list, but I don’t think that’s what the issue is….

A prety ho-hum meeting for the most part. Bruno is still struggling running the meetings; not much of a headache tonight though. Not much skipping around the agenda with the notable exception of the selection of the new councilor, which was entirely appropriate. The new microphones were nice but they're not an improvement if they don't use them (i.e., Joe King for one).
#2. Disappointed that no one commented on the fact that the money was being taken out of the stabilization fund. Oh well, maybe someone on the BOA will notice.
#3. English translation: Approve a plan that you have never had a chance to review or have even seen, for that matter, so that the city can be eligible to apply for additional grants. Sounds like business as usual.
#4. The way I understood the explanation of this, the available money for this transfer will come from a projected decrease in training costs associated with a decrease in the department's turnover rate. I know that decrease in the turnover rate is probably being measured over a longer time period but it seems kind of early in the fiscal year to be certain that this trend will continue. I'm not disputing the need to this expenditure; just the way that it is being done seems to raise some questions. Let's hope that this isn't the start of a trend.
#9. I guess the issue is the legality of using the reserve list. We'll have to wait and see what the law department has to say.
#12. And on it goes...
#16. Congratulations to the new councilor. It's hard to tell if the council made the right choice; we'll just have to wait and see. I thought that it might have been a tigher vote because of the Ragucci "legacy" but it just goes to show what I know, once again.
#21. They are taking the equivalent of cash now. Even if you were able to hand out fines, it probably wouldn't stop this from happening. If you threw them in jail, that might have a deterent effect but do you really want to do that? I laughed when I read an editorial in the Leader-Herald a few weeks ago that stated the new recycling program would stop this problem. In my view, it only makes it worse.
#23. It is amazing what people will steal, in this case, even if it is bolted down. It's hard to believe that the junk yards would be knowingly accepting this stuff. If they find it after the fact, is it reasonable to assume that they would report it if they can't concretely tie it back to a particular hauler?
#25. I often have a little fun at Councilor Simonelli's expense. I have to give him credit tonight though. Right or wrong, he just won't let go of the idea of having a Wood Waste "public hearing"; good for him. I have told people who have asked that I felt that part of the reason that the mayor scheduled his town meeting was to fulfill Simonelli's request. I didn't think that would placate Simonelli though. I was going to take Simonelli to task a little bit for maybe backing down on this issue when I gave my preliminary analysis of the agenda; I'm glad that I thought better of it. Another "wait and see" issue. |

So who is the new councillor?

It was Daniel Napolitano. The vote was 10-6. Both men really seemed to care and spoke very nice. I hope the council made the right choice but we will see. I also understand he will have to run in the next election. |

I'm not understanding this....
Reminder: 9/8 6:30PM-JOINT CONVENTION/PUBLIC HEARING (Planning Board recommendation on Fourth Street)
Is this JUST for Fourth Street and why have a public hearing about it after the fact and I don't recall seeing any "public hearing" posted in any of the newspapers and I also thought you have to publicize a "Public Hearing" for three weeks? |

I believe it's the planning board calling a public hearing and notice has to be posted in city hall not in the papers, I could be wrong |

I cant imagine how much time has been wasted over a Best Buy sign. Is this something that needs to be on a common council agenda over and over? Cant they work on this OFF camera and then announce their resolution at a meeting?
I do like Chief Mazzie, but I hope he makes it a priority and comes to this meeting and gives advice or just say something about all the violence going on and how we can help. I cant remember ever having three murders in one summer and the city is going downhill. No one has respect anymore, loud motorcycles all hours of the night, cars parked up on curbs never ticketed, I'd like to know if the city is going to do anything.
Wood Waste....Wood Waste....Wood Waste...what is the big deal with setting up an open public hearing that was promised back in June? How many times does this have to be on the calendar? I cant blame Simonelli because he's not getting any answers.
Two Streets in the Village that Ranieri wants to "all of a sudden" make a one way... one week after the mystery of "who put those illegal signs up".....lets blame Sherry Clancy! She never shows up. I knew he was going to blame Best Buy.
It's very hard to believe this is the 7th anniversary of 9-11. Seems like yesterday....
