I have no issue with them taking off. If there was a pressing issue or need the Mayor could always call for a special meeting. |

Many Councilors and Alderman say their opinions on a piece in front of them. I think RVC was professional and accurate in what he said. He said in a way we all can understand it and I think he was too kind. This budget director appears to be one of the biggest con artist’s besides the people that work for Thibeault. Thank goodness we have Robert Van Campen and Chuck DiPerri and either one of them did not deserve that temper from the Mayor. |

Let's do something different. Questions anyone?
Did we really expect Mr. Thibeault to show up?
When did 2 acres become 3.5?
Did anyone in Newburyport know that they were having a vote tonight?
Did anybody call to cancel the movers? I think he's staying.
What are we voting on? Let's hope that somebody will post the other amendments that were made to the budget on the city web site. What did you shoot today?
Why do we keep electing sensitive mayors? Did he call Chuck when he didn't like his budget amendment? The one that didn't pass? So May 15th means what?
Did anyone know that there only 90 days between January 7th and May 19th? Did anyone know that time period isn't 5 and 1/2 months either?
Aren't the flowers are nice? CT-H will be happy.
Mr. Carlisle quotes incorrect cost savings amounts from newspapers and then rounds up to the nearest million? Good job!
The chamber is going to be out of commission for a whole month for install new sound equipment? |

I didn't expect Mr Thibeault to show up, I don't believe he showed up in Newburyport last week either, sent his lawyers.
I think 2 acres will be 3.5 acres and in no time at all be 32 acres.
None on the Newburyport blog posted anything about a vote tonight.
I'm sure he;s staying, it's just a question of where!
The Mayor sure wasn't happy with RVC or Chuck. Oh, that was being sensitive.
If CT-H is happy, we are all happy.
Mr Carlisle's temper was showing just a tiny bit tonight.
Maybe we would all be better off if there was no sound.

Good grief!! I will have to watch this meeting at least two or three times to be able to absorb all that happened. Unfortunately, RVC was a little too late with his statements. But, then again, better late than never. With regards to Tetris' question - "What did you shoot today?" I think I shot myself in the foot the last time I went to the voting booth. My question - So what happens now? |

Fedup asked, "So what happens now?" I guess we will just have to "wait and see." |

I missed the first 20 minutes of the meeting. I came in when Wayne was kissing butt, I mean speaking with Attorney Rossi. Did anyone get a feel for how the BOA feels about Wood Waste? |

To be honest, I'm not sure that we can "wait and see". I am struggling as it is - if another 8-10% tax hike comes into play, I will lose my house.I have a few more questions -
Shouldn't the Auditor have had a say in the Budget? There is a hotel in Chelsea - around the corner from the old City Yards. Why would a new one be proposed for that area? My understanding of the one in Chelsea is that they always have quite a few rooms available.
How does one compute time in the Twilight Zone?
So, David, when is your appointment up in Stoneham?

I'm not sure any of them really tipped their hand, Massdee. RVC and DiPerri asked the tougher questions, of course. |

RVC & DiPerri were the only two asking the tough questions! Seems to me everyone else caved and chose not to question or contradict........ Looks like we get to keep both Woodwaste & Carlisle while we try to figure out how to pay the higher tax bill coming our way.
Carlo may be our next record holding mayor.......... john hanlon was our first incumbent mayor to lose a primary. Carlo is well on his way to becoming the second!
I sincerely regret voting for Carlo. McGonagle was too negative and never told us what his plan was for the city (or if he even had one). Carlo had plans that sounded good. Now we know the plans were for Thibeault and Carlo's friends and associates and we, the residents and taxpayers, get to take in the throat.................... AGAIN!

There was misconception that " I feel" Mr. Rossi said was incorrect on saying, and that was the fact he said it was "Kay Lazar" who informed "him" that there are a lot of misconceptions concerning lower Broadway. She is a reporter......why would she be telling the experts about a misconception? I'm telling you this deal STINKS literally. They are going to find loopholes to do what they want. I hope people on the city council are smarter than this. |

Sounded like RVC was campaigning for Mayor last night.....definitely a BS move. So much for the council working with the mayor. Seeing that the vote was 6-1, it's good to see that the other members of the board knew that the cuts they made were as much juice that they could possibly squeeze at the time. Sachetta should be commended for standing up and stating the obvious....let the Mayor do his job! |
