1. I thought that the city's revolving funds had been authorized earlier in the year; these must have been left off of that list. Ah! Clayton Carlisle, the gift that just keeps on giving! Glad to see that a list of the accounts (with details!) was provided this time. Wonder if any of them have had (or need to have) their limits bumped up?
4. Carnac says the answer is "Refer to R & O". Sorry Joe!
6. + 7. How much time do these items need?
8. I think that you would have needed a stop sign on the other side of Second Street at the corner of Lewis Street as well for this to have worked. This may have had the potential to back traffic up onto Broadway at times. Corey Street between Broadway and School Street is already an issue in that area; we didn't need another problem there.
9. + 10. I have a feeling that this will fly but I also think that the public would like to know why this combination is OK and others weren't. I have my theories; but, I'd rather hear the official explanation. For those of you that would rather not see this pass, you still have some hope; my track record on these types of predictions is nothing to write home about.
13. If we do this and guarantee everybody's jobs too, everything will work out fine! At least in the world that Jason Marcus lives in. 14. Jason Marcus vs. Comcast! Entertainment for the entire family!
15. I live in the area and hadn't really noticed an issue; but, I checked on it after I read this. The go (green-yellow) cycle on Clinton Street is about twenty-five seconds long and the green on Cottage Street is closer to forty-five seconds long. I guess I never noticed since it usually works to my benefit. But the bottom line is, couldn't this be handled with a phone call? Isn't this a little bit of back sliding by Matewsky? Poor guy hasn't had much "face time" lately.
17. Please remember to get out and vote on November 4th. |

I missed the whole meeting. I'm disconnecting my phone on Mondays from now on. All I heard was the mayor yelling about something. What happened? |

I missed the entire meeting but received two calls on my cell over it. The yelling.....
I'll have to watch the re-run. Sounds to me he can’t take the heat.

I believe the yelling occurred when RVC decided to rewrite item 9 on the fly.
Article VII Section 43. Decorum in Debate. In debate a member must confine himself to the question before the assembly. |

I am one person who doesnt understand how item 9 can go through. I asked a councilor and they didnt know either. I saw it and I think Bob Van Camen was just clarifying. If the mayor just answered the questions there would be no problem. I like Carlo but I thought he was rude. |

The problem wasnt the Mayor not answering....it was RVC asking it over and over and over. If the former procurement officer works for the school department, how can the Mayor speak about his job responsibilities??
Also...can someone help me here....RVC said there was a problem with an assistant solicitor also being a procurement officer. Where is the conflict? |

1. Guess I was the only was the only one that was interested in this. Not surprising.
4. Sorry, Joe; it's R & O.
9 + 10. So the only useful information that we got from these pieces was that there was no written opinion on the consolidation from state ethics, the position, not the person, is given special employee status and confirmation that Mr. Pedulla is working for the school department. Instead, we get another face-off beteween the Mayor and Alderman Van Campen. Yawn. I'm growing tired of these already. I agree with the Mayor, RVC was badgering him. But the Mayor does need to better control his temper. I was happy to see him apologize when he came back to the podium later; now, he just needs to follow thru on it. I can't say that I would agree with the Mayor on the point that he pays his staff less than the prior two administrations. His proposed budget document for this year doesn't bear that out if you just look at the Mayor's department. I'm pretty sure that he looks at in a different fashion; so he would need to explain that better before I could evaluate that claim fairly. 12. If this is a good piece, why did have to be referred to the Mayor's office for the third time?
13. Of course, you vote for this but it's one of Jason's "empty gesture" pieces. If it's going to happen, it's going to happen.
14. Something to look forward to in two weeks? Probably not.
15. So, he already made the call. Pure "face time".
18. Does anyone know what all these vehicles to disposed of were? Police impounds?
I wonder what the piece that Jason was looking for under suspension was? |

Were their written opinions from the state ethics board on the other issues that went before them? If so, can the general public get those opinions? I for one, would be interested in reading them. |

No. There were not any written opinions. It was a phone call. It was a little confusing the way the solicitor was explaining it. She was talking about being made a "special" employee to be the purchasing agent. I wanted to know the ethics "ruling"
None of this is being done right. No part time person from any prior administration was making $600.00 per week. If I remember correctly, didn't the prior administration have a chief of staff at $52,000.00. Whether there is more or less people now, that does not matter. The fact is these people are getting rich on the Everett taxpayer. It all "excuses" for political favors. |

I understood that last night's issue was a phone call with NO written opinion from the state. What I was wondering, were there any written opinions about the earlier attempts at consolidations and appointments, for example Carlisle or Hickey. |

Not to my knowledge. I know a written request was requested for Hickey, but that seemed to get killed. |

Does anyone happen to remember just how many times since January the city has had to call the State Ethics Commission? |

I would have to go back and look. I "think" four. Then we have more other "ethical"......closer to home issues.....emmmm....Wood Waste.
I do not believe that apology came from the Mayor. He is way too defensive if his Chief of Staff and takes it too personal. He berated Millie Cardello, he screamed at the Leader Herald. I think RVC was clarifying. What's going on is wrong, and as BOA President, he has every right to ask questions without getting berated and finger pointed at. That appoplgy was from Ms. Deveney, not the Mayor. Didn't you see the nasty looks even after the fact? He has anger issues and should get help for that. |
