If you look at the YouTube video I posted it shows a lot of movement on the bridge when these trucks go over it.
That bridge isn't made for this type of activity--it is an issue that has to be dealt with. |

I did watch your video (Thanks!) and also on thebostonchannel.com That shows a driver that lied on camera about having a full load. There needs to be a certain route or signs saying "truck route" ( why cant they use Chelsea/Tobin Bridge way) The city/police needs to get involved with the Everett issues too because safety/traffic is worsening down there (for pedestrians too) and they need to work with Boston on this. I'm not saying no one cares but it seems like no one wants to be bothered by this and no one wants to go the extra mile. It is a public safety hazard with an Everett road that connects to the bridge where Everett residents drive daily so it is an Everett concern. These trucks are tearing up our roads that us taxpayers are going to pay over and over for. |

THIS IS FROM CHANNEL SEVEN Hank Investigates: Tanker trouble Reported by: Hank Phillippi Ryan
Producer: Mary Schwager
Contact MSchwager@whdh.com
View all archived Hank Investigates reports Tanker trucks, big rigs carrying dangerous cargos: thousands of gallons of explosive, toxic and flammable material. But our investigation found many of those tankers might not be fit to hit the highway! 7's Hank Phillippi Ryan reveals unsafe tankers on Massachusetts's roads right now. How does it happen? Who's getting away with it? And who's responsible for this "Tanker Trouble?"
They're huge, they're heavy and what they carry could incinerate a whole neighborhood
Everett fire victim "Within a minute cars were blowing up, everything was on fire."
This gasoline tanker truck veered off a rotary in Everett last December with more than 9000 gallons on board exploding into flames.
It's happened in Los Angeles, Tacoma, San Francisco, Detroit --and our investigation found thousands of other tankers from across the country, all carrying hazardous materials, may be on the road in Massachusetts with questionable drivers--and in dangerous condition.
Sgt. Tom Fitzgerald, Mass State Police "Some trucks do not belong on the road. They are unsafe. Sometimes the truck is in such a horrible mechanical condition it really defies common sense."
To try to catch them, the state police truck team brings random rigs off the road for surprise inspections. They check inside, outside, underneath and on top.
Sgt. Tom Fitzgerald, Mass State Police "Driver brakes!"
Route 3, where you share the road with tankers every day, where police nabbed this truck he was hauling a load of gasoline . But soon police discovered multiple brake problems and this guy wasn't going anywhere but out of service.
Hank Phillippi Ryan, Investigative Reporter "And if this truck had gone onto the road with these violations, what would have happened? "
Sgt. Tom Fitzgerald, Mass State Police "It's a crap shoot."
This tanker was carrying heating oil, but officers found the guy behind the wheel didn't have the correct license to be driving it.
Hank Phillippi Ryan, Investigative Reporter "You were just taken out of service! Why were you driving this truck without the proper credentials? "
Unlicensed driver "No comment please."
And we found in inspections like this the truck team nabbed a tanker carrying toxic potassium hydroxide for bad brakes. One carrying propane had faulty brakes and steering. One carrying explosives was leaking. Drivers were improperly licensed, driving too many hours, and without their glasses. The most recent stats show one in four tankers they checked had to be taken out of service.
Trooper Scott Maguire , Mass. State Police "People die when things go wrong with these."
So why are dangerous tankers still on the road?
In Massachusetts they're required to have annual state and federal safety inspections. But look at the rules: the companies that own the trucks can inspect themselves!
Jerry Donaldson, Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety "That's asking for trouble, that's asking for negligence, that's asking for irresponsibility."
What's more trucks on Mass roads of course come from out of state, where sometimes there's no state safety inspection program at all!
Trooper Scott Maguire, Mass. State Police "Sometimes unfortunately we are their maintenance program. Things aren't getting fixed until we find them. "
But for every one that gets pulled over highways are crowded with thousands that don't.
Sgt. Tom Fitzgerald, Mass State Police "Drivers really need to know, they need to stay away from trucks, to exercise extreme caution. "
Hank Phillippi Ryan, Investigative Reporter "That's such a frightening thought. "
Sgt. Tom Fitzgerald, Mass State Police "It 's a reality. "
As for that Everett tanker experts tell us even though the truck was destroyed in the fire, it may still be possible to discover the cause of the crash and if it was driver error or a mechanical problem. That may be public soon; sources tell us officials are now nearing the end of their investigation.

Senator Cited With Leaving Scene of Crash Anthony Galluccio Faced Drunken Driving Allegations In 2006
POSTED: 11:03 pm EDT October 5, 2009 UPDATED: 11:19 pm EDT October 5, 2009
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- A state lawmaker who faced drunken driving allegations three years ago turned himself in to police Monday on allegations that he left the scene of a crash over the weekend.
NewsCenter 5 has learned that state Sen. Anthony Galluccio, a Democrat from Cambridge, turned himself into Cambridge police Monday. Police cited Galluccio with leaving the scene of an accident after causing property damage and leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury. The charges stem from allegations that Galluccio left the scene after allegedly rear-ending another car at the intersection of Garden and Linnaean streets at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
Cambridge police spokesman Officer Frank Pasquarello told NewsCenter 5 that investigators contacted the lawmaker after police received a license plate number belonging to Galluccio. Galluccio will be summonsed to court at a later date.
In 2006, Galluccio was the focus of a Team 5 investigation after he was accused of drunken driving, but no charges were ever filed. |

38-year-old Antonio Marcos Ferreira of Somerville pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on a murder charge in Malden District Court. He was arrested last Friday.
Prosecutors said Ferreira dated 26-year-old Sheila Dos Santos, off-and-on until about nine months ago and that she had spurned his new advances.
They allege Ferreira was extremely unhappy with being rejected, so he confronted her in the early morning hours of Oct. 2 and stabbed her 33 times in her back and torso outside her apartment.
The building's superintendent found Dos Santos' body around 4:30 a.m. on the back steps.
In court Tuesday, assistant District Attorney Adrienne Lynch said the evidence includes a spot of blood matching the victim's DNA that was found on a pair of sneakers in Ferreira's apartment.
Investigators claim they have surveillance video of Ferreira's car coming and going from his apartment around the time of the murder.
Ferreira's attorney said there is no confirmation that the car is his.
Dos Santos lived by herself and worked as a dancer at Club Alex's in Stoughton.
Prosecutors said Ferreira may have been preparing to flee to Brazil when he was arrested.
When he was captured in Charlestown last week, police say his car was packed with luggage and he had his Brazilian passport.
Defense attorney John Haynes disputed that claim. (© 2009 CBS Broadcasting Inc. All Rights Reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed. The Associated Press contributed to this report

DiMasi Faces New Extortion Charge
Former Massachusetts House Speaker Eyed In Bid-Rigging Scheme
POSTED: 6:00 pm EDT October 13, 2009
BOSTON -- Former Massachusetts House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi is facing another extortion charge in connection with an alleged bid-rigging scheme.
Earlier this year, DiMasi, who resigned in January, faced conspiracy and fraud charges in federal court.
DiMasi and his three associates are accused of securing two deals with software company Cognos. The contracts allegedly netted DiMasi's three friends $1.3 million in fees.
The new extortion charge was unveiled in a superseding indictment Tuesday and claims DiMasi accepted payments from Cognos and knowing the payments were in exchange for him taking official action to help the company.
Software broker Joseph Lally, DiMasi's former accountant Richard Vitale and lobbyist Richard McDonough also faced charges in June.
According to the indictment, in return for pushing through the two contracts worth $20 million, the company funneled $57,000 to DiMasi.
The government claims DiMasi arranged for the payments to go through a law associate. The attorney, who was a cooperating witness, would receive $5,000 a month from Cognos for so-called legal work for the company in Massachusetts. He would then pass on $4,000, it is claimed, to DiMasi as a referral fee.
