Health Hazards. This particular business and this business man do not belong in Everett and in the area per discussions. Who is approving this transaction and why has it not been publicized?

Ya know what...people are concerned and to say arrogant things like "make some sense" or "a first year law student" after what Thibeault has done, is what makes no sense. Take the dump to Goffstown and dump it in his back yard. This isn't City Hall where the Assistant walks around like she's the cats meow.

Before we all start believing that the Board of Health will be our savior in this issue, here is a link to a copy of a decision from an appeal made before Massachusetts Superior Court from the original Wood Waste vs Everett Board of Health case:

You must be logged in to see this link.

It is in legalese but, it is not altogether terrible reading. The basics of it are that the superior court upheld the ruling of the lower court that the BOH was too arbitrary in denying Wood Waste a siting permit. It is also interesting to note though that when it talks about the initial case from 1996 (and maybe from the initial application in 1993 but that's not 100% clear), the following statement pops out at you:

"The record indicates that Wood Waste proposed to construct buildings on the site so as to enclose its operations, including temporary storage of materials..."

The point I was trying to make is with the Sludge Plant- LNG -and the tankers the area in which it is being said that Wood Waste would move to already has enough environmentally unfriendly businesses on Route 99. It would not be a good move. People live in the area and pay taxes. Their concerns is what this should be first to the administration.

I don't disagree with you, Dreams; unfortunately, it does seem that the people who actually make the decisions may not. Wasn't the City of Everett's legal challenge to the sludge plant supposed to be based around the fact that, even though it is in Boston, it was being sited in an economic justice area? Guess that arguement didn't hold up too well.

The Board of Aldermen and the Common Council have been very quiet about some of these issues. They should be asking questions at the meetings so the residents know what exactly is going on. That way we could have some facts instead of relying on rumor.

I was never able to attend the meetings in Charlestown about Boston's sludge plant. If any of you did, could you please tell me if Carlo attended? If so, did he speak? If he spoke, what did he say? Was he in favor or against Boston putting their sludge plant on Route 99?

I thought economic justice had to do with bringing business to areas that are undeveloped and typically ignored by the normal development and finance process. Is that not correct?

Sorry, I got my "E' words confused; it should have been "environmental justice".

If a sludge treatment facility passes the EPA's Environmental Justice provisions, I'm sure a waste transfer facility will as well.
So, now we are back to not doing it because we don't like the guy.....unless there is another reason.

How about non-compliance with his present site?

So we both think he should put it inside.....well, that's progress.

So our point of disagreement is that you want to leave it next to your grocery store and a high school and I want to put it behind a sludge treatment facilty. Seems like an easy choice to me.....but I can already see the next words coming.... "lets agree to disagree".

So tell us, what we do if he is allowed to move and doesn't build an enclosed facility?

His non-compliance tells us he is a businessman who can not be trusted. I personally would like to see his business out of Everett completely. Since that is not a viable option, and I don't trust him to do the right thing down on lower Broadway, I would like to see him forced into compliance at his present site.

Mr Thibeault has caused his own problems. He is the one that didn't follow the rules. He has never been a good corporate neighbor, why would you think he would all of the sudden see the light and do the right thing.
